He was badly wounded the night he received the medal and after eight months in recovery decided that he had enough of blood and killing and resigned from the Navy. He went back to his home in Chicago and entered the family business. He also started dating a high school girlfriend, Helen Spencer. In a few months, they were engaged and then married. So began their 25 year marriage that eventually caused unhappiness for each of them. Frank was tired of the marriage and of his business career and decided to end both. He would divorce his wife and then resign from the business. He would change his life by moving to Los Angeles and try to seek out a new lady, a new love, who would complete his life. To start this new life, he joined many groups and organizations. At one of the organization’s black tie dinners, he met the most beautiful women he had ever seen. Long blond hair, tall with a slender figure, long legs she was elegant in a black cocktail dress. He introduce himself and she replied by saying, ”My name is Karen Roosevelt.” He registered surprise at her last name and she said, “My husband is a distant cousin of the late president.” So she was married. Her husband, Dr. William Roosevelt, came by and all three had dinner that night at the party. He was a surgeon at Cedars-Sinai Hospital in Los Angeles and they lived in Beverly Hills. As they said good night, Frank sadly felt that he would never see her again. He did see her at a few other social events and operas and had become obsessed with her. He had fallen victim to one of the most destructive weakness known to man. Frank was now obsessed that because he wanted and needed Karen, he must have her. Good sense and good judgment were washed away by the passion he felt for this woman. He decided he must have her and the only way was to kill her husband. Now Frank began to plan this felony. Frank decided that he would kill the husband by shooting him in the head as he entered his car and left the hospital garage parking lot one evening after work. He decided to search for an unregistered, untraceable “cold piece” in MacArthur Park, a cesspool of crime, drug dealing, murders and illegal activities in Los Angeles. One night, he wore a disguise and went down to MacArthur Park where he met a “new friend” named Sidney. Frank sized up Sidney and told him, “I want some “heat that’s cold,” a 9mm. Glock 17 pistol with silencer that is unregistered and untraceable. Sidney said meet me tomorrow night right here. The next night, Sidney delivered and Frank had his murder weapon.
