Chance Sinclair… Alpha. A Navy SEAL. A hero. Until the awful day he loses his heart. Seeking refuge, Chance trades his former life as one of America’s finest for solitude in the mountains of Northern Montana. All is well until the wintry night he finds a nearly frozen woman in an icy pond. She’s not breathing, and he detects no sign of life. But his heart goes out to her. She had no business being on his mountain; she sure as hell isn’t going to die on it.
Suede Tennyson... America’s latest spoiled brat celebrity. A train wreck waiting to happen. Now, after waking up in a stranger’s warm bed, she can’t name a single person who cares whether she lives or dies. Well, except for the idiot who saved her, and once he realizes who she is and what she’s done, he’ll hate her too. That’s the way this world works; everyone uses everyone else. Miserable to her core, Suede finds herself praying for maybe just…One. Last. Chance.

I was immediately drawn in. This first book of a new series, SOB's, is just what you expect from Irish Winters. Her gift of characterization makes you feel you know and love these people. This may be my favorite series yet! Chance Sinclair, covert operator and former Navy Seal, is recovering from both physical and emotional injuries at his secluded Montana retreat. Trudging through the blizzard to retrieve his all too playful pup, he is led to a woman who has fallen - quite literally - through the ice of a pond at the base of his mountain. Suede Tennyson, whose life was thrown away like yesterday's trash, should have died that bitter cold night. But the medical treatment and persistence of this man, who is a complete mystery to her, gives her the strength to pull through. Chance can't reconcile the woman in his cabin with the Suede Tennyson in the tabloids. Something isn't adding up. He pledges to protect her and in doing so, they discover that Suede's life was comprised of nothing more than betrayals and lies. Together, they unravel the scheme in which she has been nothing more than a pawn. Her newfound confidence, combined with his need to take everyone involved down, takes them on a dangerous journey where they discover hope, love and redemption.
