Overview

Dr. Dora Adler's life has been in disarray since the beginning of the zombie apocalypse, but when she gets bitten by one of the undead, her whole world is turned upside down. Held captive in a secret underground lab, the tall, muscular hunk in the next cell is her only hope for salvation. Unfortunately, he claims to be a werewolf. Yeah, and she's supposedly a witch.

Dirk Gunderson is an alpha Arbor pack werewolf. Captured and collared, he's sold to the zombie lab in hopes his blood serum can create a vaccine. He needs to escape, but not without the hot little brunette witch.

In the midst of enemy werewolves and the hordes of undead, Dirk and Dora's sexual tension ignites a blaze hotter than the desert highway. Along their journey, they battle the inevitable: a werewolf must never take a witch as a mate.

Yay Whoooo! Apocalyptic Moon After the Bane (book 1) by Eva Gordon I have just started reading books that deal with any type of Apocalyptic disaster. Whether it is war or zombies. Apocalyptic Moon by Eva Gordon has zombies, werewolves and a favorite of mine....romance. There is plenty of teeth grinding, edge of you seat action. With a hot werewolf alpha male and another favorite of mine, a strong, intelligent heroine. I soon became addicted to this story/world and am patiently waiting for my next fix with book 2, hopefully coming soon.

I received a free copy of this book in exchange for my honest review I liked this book. It was a good, fun read. It was relatable to a degree and didn’t leave me with any sort of feeling like I missed something. It combined the worlds of shifters and witches with the world of zombies to make a nice story of love, life, and the injustices of that come with falling for the “wrong” person. It also gave me some new ideas for if the zombie apocalypse actually does come! Dora is a doctor in a Texas hospital. She is a diagnostician. She’s got an uncanny ability to recognize the early symptoms in patients when they have become exposed to the zombie virus. It’s her birthday and she is sure that she will fall victim of her family curse. Every family member on her mother’s side has died at the age of 27 on or near their birthday. She obviously doesn’t die immediately or there would be no story, but she does become exposed to the virus that causes the transformation into a zombie. She is then transferred to a facility where the exposed are “treated”. HA! If being experimented on and locked in a room is considered being “treated”, they must have a different idea of treatment than I do! While she’s there she meets Dirk. He, too, is being held there against his will. Dirk is an Alpha werewolf. He is responsible for the future of his pack as he is the heir to his Uncle Talon’s seat of power. He and Dora decide to try to work together to escape and it takes some convincing to convince Dora that he’s not lying about being a werewolf. Dirk senses something different about Dora that she is totally unaware of. She is immediately attracted to him, but does her best to deny it. Dirk tries his best to convince Dora that she is an Arcadia Witch, and while she is full of doubt, some of what he says makes sense. Arcadia witches are healers, good with plants and that sort of thing. Dora’s natural intuition towards the zombie virus and green thumb help her to believe that Dirk may be right now the she has accepted the fact that many of the things she didn’t think actually existed have really been there all along. It explains the family curse as most witches come into their power at the age of 27. She’s still not convinced she will live to see 28 however, especially after Dirk tells her there is a group of religious fanatical werewolves Hell bent on wiping out the race of witches across the globe. Dora and Dirk set out after their escape from the lab with very different intentions. Dora plans to find her brother and her niece, who were supposed to be leaving their home in California and going to stay with a friend on a big cat rescue facility that is safe from zombies. That is her main priority. Dirk, on the other hand has a different idea. His plan is to take her home to his pack. They are collecting humans and other shifters and trying to build a society where they are all safe from the zombies. They have been working together with different shifter species to create a “safe zone” where people no longer will have to live in fear. Dirk keeps telling Dora one thing, but thinking something different. Essentially this story is about a shifter and a witch who fall in love after being held captive, their journey across zombie filled lands to reach their families, and everything they encounter along the way, including the group of shifters trying to find and kill Dora. How long will it take for them to admit their love, will they reach her family in time? Will Dirk betray Dora’s trust and trick her into leaving her family behind? What will happen when his pack finds out he has fallen in love with a witch, which is forbidden by their laws? Will the bad wolves get to Dora, and if they do, will she be able to escape? These are questions you’ll just have to read the story to find the answers! There is plenty of action and adventure in this book. It was able to keep me interested and didn’t give away the whole story early into it. I would recommend this book to anyone who likes shifter books with romantic elements. Anyone who enjoys a story where the future is uncertain may also enjoy it. I received a copy of this book in exchange for my honest review.

Finding love in unexpected places. What better place to find love than in an underground in the middle of a zombie apocalypse? I could not put this book down it was so exciting! Not only was there some hot romance, but there was also plenty of action as you can imagine in a post apocalyptic zombie world. Not to mention the drama of discovering your a witch and that your newly discovered love is forbidden. I really enjoyed learning about this new world where zombies, witches, and of course smoking hot werewolves exist. The author did an amazing job of setting everything up and grabbing my attention. The romance was steamy and electric. The chemistry was palpable and even when Dora was fighting it you could tell they belonged together. Dora was a kickass heroine and I loved her. She was strong, intelligent, and never gave up without a fight. I really enjoyed getting to know her. Dirk was definitely swoon worthy and an all around alpha male. He was strong, determined, and knew how to get what he wanted. His interactions with Dora were so much fun! He really knew how to get on her riled up. This was an unforgettable story that you will not want to miss!

Yes, you read the genre correctly. I consider this a dystopian story - one with zombies taking over the world and civilization crumbling. But that doesn't mean that a werewolf can't meet a witch in a super secret underground medical lab trying to find a cure. And it doesn't mean that even though they are both prisoners, that they can't fall in love and in happily every after.....right? Of course there is the ban against werewolves mating with witches, the massive hordes of zombies waiting to eat them, and the general chaos that one would expect at the end of the world. But that doesn't stop Dirk and Dora from giving everything they can to make it work - screw the rest, they'll deal with it later. Dora has become one of my favorite heroines, her snarky attitude and determined mindset were a perfect fit for this story. Loaded with all the action you could ask for, and plenty of hot werewolf all along the way, I finished hoping for more - and I hear there's a second in the works and I can't wait!

Along their journey, they battle the inevitable: a werewolf must never take a witch as a mate. I’d like to start by saying I was a wee bit dubious if I’d enjoy the mix of shifters and zombies. Ms. Gordon had me on the first page and continued to hold my interest throughout the entire story. The world she painted of life after zombies took over the world was so clearly written I could picture every scene she depicted. I absolutely loved how she introduced so many characters that I am now impatiently waiting to see when her next in this new series is released. After checking her web page and not seeing a coming soon, I can honestly say I was almost as depressed as when I’ve read one of my favorite authors latest in a series and realized that I now had a year to wait for the next installment. That, in my humble opinion, is a very high recommendation for any reader to go out and buy this book. It’s not only a full length shifter story, but it has all the elements that make it a great read. Eva Gordon gives you hot alpha men, sexy alpha women (shifter and not), danger, suspense and last but not least smoking hot sex between the hero and heroine. While she writes some pretty gruesome scenes of zombies being killed and doing the killing, it made the book even more impressive to me. I can guarantee that if you enjoy a long, steamy, action packed story you will love Apocalyptic Moon by Eva Gordon. And if Ms. Gordon is reading this review I would like to beg you to please start writing the next installment NOW. LOL reviewed by Michelle Boone 5 Stars (Hook Line and Sinker)

Where was this gem hidden? How didn’t I find it before? I’m a paranormal junkie who loves a good end-of-the-world-as-we-know-it theme! Apocalyptic Moon has it all! Werewolves, wait, let me re-phrase that, a HOT Alpha werewolf, a strong female who lives under a family curse of an early death, who discovers she is more than a mere human, humans acting inhumanely, and zombies. Add to that, the fabulous writing talent of author Eva Gordon, who has nailed this story to the wall and I’m in book heaven! Zombies are taking over the world with just one bite, infecting humans, turning them, one by one and science has found no cure. Dora is a doctor in a family where many of the women die on their twenty-seventh birthday, and guess where the book opens? Yep, Dora’s birthday and she is waiting for the grim reaper to show up, anytime. Instead, she is bitten by an infected zombie with Z-Phage (the virus) and does not get sick so she gets shuffled off to a super-secret underground facility where she gets to be a prisoner/lab rat. Dirk, a strong alpha werewolf is captured and brought in because werewolves are immune to the Z-Phage virus, also. In spite of the circumstances, when Dora sees his hotness through the glass that separates them, she finds a plus side to this nightmare! (Bad Dora…;) ) After discovering that they can communicate telepathically, Dirk and Dora plan their escape, which is about all they seem to be able to agree on. Will these two hard-headed people succeed in saving themselves before they strangle each other? What is the mystery of Dora’s immunity? Is there more in the cards for them, together as a couple or will that be impossible? Will they find their HEA, in spite of the world crumbling around them? Eva Gordon’s Dora is smart, funny, gutsy, girly and snarky as heck with a heart as big as Texas! When she needs them, her claws come out in force! Dirk is strong, very alpha, loyal to his pack, and has a soft heart hidden in there. Just ask him about Fang! His motorcycle is bad and he is the perfect bad boy you love! Ms. Gordon’s version of boy meets girl is one of the best! You’ll love the interaction, the stereotypes, the action and the pace of this read! And please, remember to get the scoop on Fang!

Eva Gordon, You got me! I am not usually a squeamish reader. I can read about blood and gore. I can picture the badly wounded…but the descriptions of the zombie chomping and the zombie gnashing and the zombie chewing thingy…got me. I am still tensing my neck as I am typing this review. So what can I say, but your story was very interesting? I enjoyed it. Your descriptions did not let up and was superb! Dr Dora Adler is a doctor. We meet her as she is about to celebrate her 27th birthday. This day comes with more than mild trepidation, as it is historically her death warrant. Generations before her, the first born daughter dies on the day or pretty close to it. The world as we know it is being rampaged by a virus called Z–phage pandemic that is turning all humans into the walking dead ‘zombies.’ Dora is bitten by a zombie and is quickly taken to the lower bowels of the hospital to wait to die. Happy Birthday to her! When the staff realizes she doesn’t turn into a zombie, Dora is secreted like a prisoner to another facility and treated like a lab rat by the evil Dr Mansfield. Through the glass she watches a beautiful red headed male brought in strapped to a gurney and put in the cell next door to her. We learn Dirk is an alpha wolf of the Fenrir Arbor pack and has been hunting a wolf hunter named Jaeger since he attacked and almost killed his sister Sierra. Brought in drugged with wolfsbane, unhappy for allowing himself to get caught, Dirk is one angry young man. The ‘Plan’ now is for both of them to break out, but Dr Mansfield has other ideas. Dora and Dirk have to use their brains and brawn to escape and head west to Dora’s brother and daughter, and to Dirk’s pack. Our author takes us on a wonderful story of two people learning about each other, working together and falling in love. Dirk, being an alpha, is a do first ask questions later kind of guy, and I worried how this accomplished Doctor would take it that Dirk made decisions with her life and then tried to keep these decisions from her. The path west was fraught with danger, and we experienced the good, the bad and the ugly (chomp, chomp chomp) The story was strong and the supporting characters were great as well. We met shifters of all kinds, including Aviary Shifters, one being Princess Rave and her soon-to-be mate. She was so much fun, and added so much to the light side of the story. We can agree in the truth that nothing is worse than a woman scorned, when we see what happens when Dirk returns back to the pack with a new lover. The most grisly part of the book were fighting the zombies, with them losing body parts and having their heads hacked off. I have never been a fan of this genre, but I am so happy I read this book, and am looking forward to another as there is an opening for future stories. This was a solid first book for a series. I was privileged to receive this fabulous, spellbinding book to provide an honest review. I am so thankful and glad that I did. Eva Gordon wove an incredibly fanciful tale, filled with grotesque zombies, shape-shifters, hunky werewolves and more. If Paranormal is your genre, do not go past Apocalyptic Moon. This one will surpass your expectations. It did mine! The world in which feisty, tough heroine, Dr Dora Adler and handsome, sexy werewolf, Dirk Gunderson lived, was far from mundane. Chaotic and volatile would best describe it actually. Their quest to survive the atrocity in which they lived, their unlikely alliance and their sizzling attraction all combined to create a fantastic, enthralling story. In providing dual first-person point of views, Gordon gave her readers deep insight into the characters, keeping them immersed and completely transfixed. Interestingly, despite being an action-packed paranormal, Apocalyptic Moon provoked some stimulating thoughts regarding love versus duty. As a lover of romance novels, naturally, I wanted the H & h to get together. Our clever author didn't allow that to simply be the only theme however. Dirk's decision to bypass pack pre-conceived notions of coupling would have irrevocable ramifications. Would Dora and Dirk be willing to concede this for their love? What made this book a truly wonderful read for me, was the delightfully timed, and incredibly funny dry wit and humor. Brilliant!  Eva Gordon spins a wonderful tale, with blistering indulgence in sensual pleasures, interesting characters, and a twisty, unpredictable plot that will keep you engrossed from start to finish. Thank you for the privilege to read this story! Thankfully, there is a sequel! Cannot wait!
