Really anything Kresley Cole puts out is a good read but I love the Arcana series. The way she writes I can feel how the characters are feeling. It's exciting, romantic, intense. Wonderful series so far and I can not wait for the next book!

The Plot Thickens! The 4th book in the series finds Evie dealing with so much grief and loss that she has compressed her own emotions to deal with it. (Minor spoiler here). I think in away Death is her bandage to deal with that pain and sex is her crutch. There is so much going on, and Evie isn’t sure who to trust. Are her allies, really allies? or will they turn on her? Down is up and up is down. I don’t think anything is as it appears. There are too many gaps in Evie’s memory, and she doesn’t know why. The ending is a doozy that left me reeling. I did not see that coming. I have read other reviews, and people think they know where Kresley is taking this story and world. Personally, I’ve read her IMD series, and she is never predictable, so I say hang on for a wild ride because Kresley is just getting things started. As for the Team Jack or Team Death, I am still going to stick with my original stand I am for Team Evie. It’s the end of the world, why does a modern woman need to choose one man? With that thought, I am giving Arcana Rising 5 Boundless stars, bring on the next battle.

Things are going really crazy here! Evie is on her own. Jack seems to be dead, and she is swept away from Arik by a monster wave courtesy of Circe. I liked seeing her on her own a little. She was able to really explore her capabilities and test the limits of not just her power, but of what she was willing to do with it. In Day Zero, the novella sharing the beginnings of the Arcana, we meet the rest of the deck, and they begin to make their appearance here. They are a twisted lot, some more than others, and some just doing whatever it takes to stay alive. As Evie encounters each one, the decisions she's forced to make on her own have major consequences for everyone. There are new enemies, new friends, and some that I'm just not quite sure of yet. The love triangle style of romance really comes to a head here after Richter washes Jack away in a sea of lava. Evie no longer has to choose, but that doesn't seem right to her. She wants what she can't have, and she wants what's still around to have. She want's her past, and she wants her present. Another big decision Evie will have to make on her own. There's a lot of growth and development in the Arcana in this book. They are all forced to look at their lives and their plans for the future, adapting as things change faster than they can really keep up. I'm interested to see what the Fool has up his sleeve, and how it will change the game in the next book - which is supposed to be coming pretty soon!

This is my favorite series. Love, love, love the characters. Would love to see this series becturned into a movie. Extremely original and a great addition to my Kresley Cole collection. This series is a nust read!

I really enjoyed the first two books in this series. I love the idea of this series but I feel like the author has just turned it into a really drawn out love triangle. The main character makes a lot of stupid decisions without pausing to think about the consequences or others.

I knew this day would come, but I had no idea it would be here so soon. I have pretty much binged this entire series in a couple of weeks, and at the beginning, I had no idea that I would be here, and in love. The Arcana Chronicles is based on a game with life and death stakes. Every few centuries, a chosen twenty two reincarnated souls battle it out to be the winner, and claim immortality as their own. These twenty two Major Arcana have been gifted special powers by the old gods and are based on Tarot Cards. How do you win? Well, you need to kill everyone else. In this game, an alliance has been formed. One that vows not to kill, but to live their lives out as mortals not immortals. But in a game based on killing, and trust severed to almost nothing over the millennia, can the Arcana stay in the light? After the unique storyline, I completely fell for the characters. There’s so much about these people that you can love, and so much of them to be exasperated about in a post-apocalyptic world, but most of all they feel SO REAL, you cannot help but fall and root for them to JUST BE HAPPY. Evangeline Greene is the Empress – she can make and grow plants and also poison using them. In a world with no food or plants, her skills are invaluable. After surviving the start of the apocalypse with her mother, who then passed away, she continues from her home with Jackson Deveaux to get to her grandmother, who is a Tarasova, or a chronicler of the game. On the way she meets other Arcana and learns about the game. There’s Selena Lua (The Moon), Lark (Fauna), Matthew (The Fool), Finn (The Magician), Aric (Death), Gruthie (The Heirophant), Vincent and Violet (The Lovers) and others with THE COOLEST (and scariest) POWERS EVER. I can’t explain why I love this series in words – but IT IS AWESOME. This will make you love characters you swore never to love, it will make your ships sink and then fly, it will make your heart break and then fix it together again. Set in a brutal background, The Arcana Chronicles is a masterful work of art. I am broken, I am past tears, but somehow I’m also ridiculously happy – is this what love feels like? – and I am so SO ready for book five.

Another wonderful novel by Kresley Cole. She has really stepped up the storyline with this one. Without spoiling the novel, Kresley takes the readers on a twisting journey that continually surprises and shocks. Waiting for the next installment will be difficult, because Kresley left this reader on the edge of her seat. Normally, love triangles can be drawn out and predictable. That is not the case with this story. The characters are real, and readers cannot help but get caught in their turmoil.

I absolutely loved this book the most and the fact that it's so twisting and compelling. I LOVED the ending and I can't wait to read the next book! I just really hope things turn out okay for Evie and the new life she's going to have to forge. By the way, team Aric all the way! He's perfect!
