SAMPLE of "PROFESSOR PASSION'S NOTES"

"At the bidding of unlawful thoughts the body sinks rapidly into disease and decay; at the command of glad and beautiful thoughts it becomes clothed with youthfulness and beauty. Disease and health, like circumstances, are rooted in thought."
This is an area of thought about which I have a tremendous personal passion. Turning one's passion into profit is just one part of living what I call "the integrated life" a life in which not just your passion and income strategy, but your health as well as your relationships are integrated, or incorporated, into the design of your life.

Allen reminds us that thoughts are also an integral part of maintaining health.

If you are presently wallowing in corporate confinement, in a job you hate, doing work that is unfulfilling, toiling in an environment of fear, contention, backstabbing, glass ceilings and office politics, such an environment, and the thoughts it cultivates will take a toll on your health.

As I suggest in Ducks in a Row (another course text) about the many reasons you need to quit your job, you need to quit your job because of "the slow death:" [Excerpt] When you allow yourself to live without passion, work without fulfillment, and dream without action, you have condemned yourself to a slow death. You only believe it is survival because you are receiving a paycheck, and somehow you believe this justifies the torture, ameliorates the pain, assuages the frustration, rationalizes the insanity and obscures the reality of your demise. For those who can see clearly, it does not. [End]

Similarly, if you are already in business, you cannot think thoughts that are based on an "I win, you lose" business model, or spend all day thinking and acting on how to crush your competitors, swindle your customers, underpay your employees, deceive your suppliers and then return home with the expectation that your personal health and relationships will be immune to the effects of fostering and festering in such thoughts! There will be a negative effect on your health.

About the Author

James Allen (November 28, 1864 –January 24, 1912) was a British philosophical writer known for his inspirational books and poetry and as a pioneer of the self-help movement.
His best-known work, As a Man Thinketh, was actually his third book, published in 1903. Allen described it as "A book that will help you to help yourself", "A pocket companion for thoughtful people", and "A book on the power and right application of thought." The book was loosely based on the Biblical passage of Proverbs 23:7, "As a man thinketh in his heart, so is he," the small work eventually became read around the world and brought Allen posthumous fame as one of the pioneering figures of modern inspirational thought. The book's minor audience allowed Allen to quit his secretarial work and pursue his passion for writing and editing.
His first two books were From Poverty to Power; or, The Realization of Prosperity and Peace (1901) [Contains The Path to Prosperity and The Way of Peace.], and All These Things Added (1903) [Contains Entering the Kingdom and The Heavenly Life.]
