Overview

True gay love is a fairy tale. No matter what everyone says, that's what Dustin firmly believes. As he starts his first year of university, Dustin is happy in the closet, where he can meet his gay needs secretly through anonymous hookups.

But when Dustin has his first hookup of the university term, with a muscular dark-eyed jock in the library men's room, he can't help notice the deep and immediate connection he feels, one that seems almost like love. It's over as quickly as it begins and, as all anonymous hookups go, Dustin never expects to see him again.

The term gets difficult, especially when his math class begins. Dustin destresses with more hookups, but they don't sate him the way they used to, and he finds he cannot stop thinking about his start-of-term encounter. Soon, his academic needs outweigh the sexual, and Dustin caves in and gets a tutor.

Attractive, well-built, dark-eyed...and a jock, his new tutor, Kyle, is none other than his anonymous hookup from the men's room. Fate seems to have connected him to the man of his dreams.

Or maybe not, since Kyle is even more in the closet than Dustin is.

4.5 Stars..... This novel Autumn Fire by Cameron D. James is not for the faint at heart and MM readers will love this steamy sexy book. Dustin is in the closet and I mean closet and he loves being there where it is safe and comfy for him. He gets all the hook ups he desires so why would he leave his comfort zone. Dustin meets CollegeJock22 online and hooks up with him on a schedule trip to the Library washroom. Something happens that Dustin wasn't expecting as he liked his newest hook up but the problem is, he is also deeply in the closet and even more so than Dustin if that was possible. The bathroom guy disappears from their online dating site and Dustin is going crazy to try to find him as he now has strong feelings for the guy which has also surprised Dustin. He is back at school and to his surprise he runs into his hook up who is named Kyle and things get really messy now. Kyle is so in the closet as he is struggling with who he really is and Dustin also still in the closet. How will these guys realize they have stronger feels for each other than what their closed sexuality has to offer. I really enjoyed Dustin's friends Jason and Angela as they added some comic relief and support for their friend! When reading the blurb I was expecting tons of gay sex and trust me there was a lot of steamy sex but I was also surprised at the emotional connection that these two characters had for each other. These scenes were so beautifully written and in such detail as the author takes you on a road of love, trust and hot sex! As a reader my heart was breaking for these characters with the internal challenges they faced and you just want to help them to come to realize that being yourself is so much better than hiding in the closet. The author really writes in such a detailed manor and so sexually and emotional explosive! The only part that I was a little stuck on was the character of Kyle as I felt he was there more to bring Dustin out of the closet than anything else. Will Dustin find true love? Will Kyle and Dustin be able to overcome their sexual identities to be together? I recommend this book Autumn Fire by Cameron D. James to anyone who wants to know the true meaning of being gay and what it represents and the hot sex scenes and the emotional connection between two guys! I received a complimentary copy of the book in exchange for an honest review. Reviewed by Paul at Crystal's Many Reviewers!

Dustin has been sowing his wild oats ever since coming to the big city for college. He's had numerous quickies with men he's met on the internet and found them satisfying until his encounter with sexy jock Kyle, who's sensually sweet in his first encounter. After that no man compares as each encounter feels more unfulfilling and degrading than the next. A twist of fate has them meeting up again with the original sparks still flying between them and Dustin finally convinced about the existence of love and wanting to change into someone more committed. Dustin's evolution is believable as he realizes that love and sex are completely different. He's willing to make a commitment to his sexuality by coming out and by admitting to Kyle his true feelings regardless of the outcome. These acts were admirable and I applauded the freedom this brought to his soul. Kyle has always lived a heterosexual lifestyle though he knew it never quite fit. Fear of being labeled has held him back from experiencing what he's been dreaming of until his quickie in a bathroom with Dustin that surprised both of them with its intensity. Kyle's a likable character scared of being judged but the promise of love and commitment lead him to making monumental changes. Though these two spend more time apart than together I still found their connection believable and its evolution satisfying as nothing worthwhile comes without work. I felt sympathetic towards Dustin with his numerous degrading and unsatisfying quickies but happy when he finally realized he deserved more and that some things are worth the risk. Helping him navigate his love life are his surprisingly supportive roommate Jason and Jason's girlfriend Angela. They never judge his actions and encourage in him self-esteem and acceptance of his needs. I found these two opposites so delightful in fact that I'd love their story to be told too. From start to finish sex plays a big part in the story. Dustin discovers a strange array of increasingly unsettling quickies that while hot had me wondering why he engaged in. Thankfully Kyle entered into his life and saved him from the self-destruction these quickies were leading him towards. Along with the numerous sexual interludes comes some truly emotional moments showing the struggle in coming out and living your life for yourself unconcerned with others's perceptions. This is the first time I've read this author but definitely won't be the last.
