Overview

Axel Stardust would rather play guitar than hunt illegal clones, but that's his purpose. Ironically, Axel is himself a clone, created by the Genetics Research Oversight Organization as a last-ditch effort to stop the twisted creations of the mad genetics genius Doctor Agrevalg. Alice is a smart, ambitious woman, a wife and mother who is tasked with monitoring and controlling Axel's missions. She is tragically pulled away from her family as she is drawn deeper and deeper into the G.R.O.O.'s questionable activities. John is her artificially intelligent robot partner who leaves the organization to befriend Axel Stardust and start a rock band. Axel and Doctor Agrevalg struggle against each other endlessly, each one re-cloned and recreated continually. Alice and John each seek a way to end the cycle. John's path causes him to become more and more like a living being, while Alice's causes her to become less and less like one. Will either of them, or Axel himself, find a way to break free?

About the Author

Sam Kess is an author of graphic novels, fiction, and memoir residing in Maplewood, Minnesota, with his wife, cat, and three children. To keep them all fed, he works as a short-order cook, and he is a mere hair's-breadth from a degree in Creative Writing from Metropolitan State Univesity. He sings cheesy '80s songs in the shower.
