Trey Taylor was loving life. Bass player to the world famous rock band Devil’s Lair, chicks falling to their knees at every turn, no one to be held accountable to for his actions…life rocked. He had all he needed, food to sustain his body, sex to sustain his libido, rock to sustain his soul. For years he walked to the beat of his own drum, and made no excuses to anyone. Running and hiding can temporarily distract your fate, but it won’t derail it. Fate was coming for him, whether he liked it or not. His past was gaining ground and threatening all the secrets he desperately tried to hide. His present was slowing him down, making him feel emotions he buried years ago. The two are about to collide. Will Trey survive the impact? This is book #4 in the Back-Up Series. I gave this book 5 stars.  This is Trey and boy do you get to see who Trey is!  He has had such a hard past and he runs from it as fast as he can. His love is his music first and fore most.. He loves woman, he loves them and he leaves them behind. Eventually though his past catches up with him and he has to face it. His friends will find out everything that he has been trying so hard to hide. They will see why he ran. Will they be beside him and support him or will they turn their back on him.  I loved this book it kept me on the edge of my seat and is by far my favorite of this series! Trey tore at my heart. I was sad and happy and everything in between during this story! Thank you AM for another amazing book in this series!!! Can't wait to read what you have coming up next!!!

Holy Hell - Trey - The mysterious member of Devil's Lair that we all know and love. Well I should add - The one we all want to fork too, if I'm being honest. By now we all have some idea of what we think went on in Trey's life to make him the guy he is today but in reality we can NEVER guess the real reason Trey is the love them and leave them type of guy. In Backstage we get his life story, the whole thing from when he was a teenager, through his first band experience, to meeting Jack and Hunter and joining Devil's Lair. It gutted me and left me in tears in more than one spot. It was the perfect ending to my favorite band member. After Backstage you will understand Trey's fear of commitment, his need to hide behind his shades and even the meaning behind the name we all know and love. There is not one thing missing from this book. It's damn near perfect in my book. AM Madden made me love Trey more than I ever had before. My heart bled for him. If he were real I'm afraid I'd be arrested for stalking him. After everything he has been through he deserves one hell of a happy ending and the only one thing that could have made this book beyond perfect is if the one girl who stole his heart was me. Kudos AM on another awesome Back-up book. (Please don't let it be the last...) (WARNING - DO NOT READ THIS BOOK WITHOUT KLEENEX HANDY)

I am a huge fan of Devil's Lair and I am so glad to read Trey Taylor's story. Trey was always a mystery in the Back Up series and now we know why. I fell in love with Trey's character he has been through so much in his life and been so hurt and deceived , and he is still surviving.Their is so much to his personality he hides and keeps locked down just so he can keep people safe from his past. Him and Tara are so amazing together she definitely was patient with him and could feel something more that he was hiding.I am so glad he finally got to tell his story about who he was he seemed so much more carefree and lighter but still the mysterious bad boy. This book kept me intrigued and their were lots of heartbreaking surprises to keep you interested, I would definitely recommend this series to any lover of a bad boy rocker.

I fell in lust with Trey Taylor back at the beginning of the Back-Up series. Backstage is my dream read. I was so happy and excited to finally read his story. A.M.Madden did a brilliant job. You will not believe what I found out about this character. The story was done in such an amazing way that we never lose the flow. Before Trey was friends with Devil's Lair, he was a normal teenager, if you live a life of fear. When his only reason to be happy is stolen, Trey starts on the road to his man-whoring ways. I was so sad for him while reading about his past. No one should have to live this way. I fall more because now I knew the man beside the shades. Tara is a free spirit. She is spunky and fun. She came into Trey's life and opened his emotions. She was a friend before hot, steamy sex. Their connection gave me hope. Although their road is full of hard knocks and will break your heart. The journey is so worth it. A.M. Madden, Backstage is just wonderful. Thank you so much.

Trey’s history before meeting Jack was something of a mystery in the rest of the Back Up series. In Backstage, the reader learns that it was with good reason. Trey has had a rough life and has every right to run but he’s running for all the right reasons. However, this is not a world in which anyone can remain hidden for long, especially when things begin to turn around and the person running is thrust into the proverbial spotlight. Trey has protected himself with the walls he has built as a fortress around his heart for a long time. Throughout much of Backstage the reader is drawn along on his journey, waiting to see what could possibly cause those walls to crack. His anonymity has been his salvation to this point and the reader celebrates in his safety but, as with anything in life, you are left worrying that it will not last. Backstage, is a fitting addition to the Back Up series and a story that needs to be told but it is a roller coaster of a journey that leaves the reader cheering, crying, fearful, and even jeering. There were times I wondered if it reached the 5* level of the rest of the series but the climax and resolution settled that for me, definitely 5*.

I was given a complimentary copy for an honest review by author A.M. Madden. This is book 4 of the Back-up series by the author. Trey Taylor is a bass guitar player in a popular band and is living the life that other people dream of. Trey did things his way and never followed anyone through out his career. The past can catch up with you when you least expect it and then your life can change in an instant. Since this is book 4 I have not read the other 3 books but I will now. The character of Trey was very well written and I loved the story line flow of this book. This is a book told from the POV of Trey and is for any mature romance book reader.

Hard to put down My Rating 4.5 Favorite Quotes: “I was dealt a crap hand.  I want a new deck.” “I kept things simple.  I learned that there are only three things I need in life to survive… food to sustain my body, sex to sustain my libido, and rock to sustain my soul.  If it doesn’t fall within one of my needs, I avoid it.” “… a knock on my door stops everyone in their tracks.  They all look as if they are playing a childhood game of freeze-tag.  Every time someone knocks, these idiots all freeze with their coffee cups midway to their mouths, or their donuts suspended right before they bite into them.”   “In my mind, I feel like I finally finished a difficult book that tore at my heart with every page.” My Review: I love the Back-Up series and will never tire of these characters or Ms. Madden’s engrossing tomes.  This book was considerably darker and a far heavier and more angsty story than the Jack and Leila chronicles.   Be prepared for the long haul, as Ms. Madden’s talent for story-telling and providing fully inhabited characters has caused numerous book hang-overs, and the resulting poor work performance on my part, for the duration of perusal.  There just never seemed to be a good stopping point to put it down voluntarily… I woke-up with my nearly dead kindle on my chest after passing out sometime during the night.  I lost myself so deeply in the story that I had a hard time controlling my urge to toss said kindle when the character was being a moronic prick.  This book crossed several genres including rock-star, new adult, and suspense.  My favorite parts…the steamy bits of course, but what a lovely and satisfying ending – sigh.  But as always when I am reading a good book - I wanted it to go on just a little longer.

A.M. Madden has completely floored me what she did with Trey’s story. I’ve always held a soft spot for him but I never knew how much softer it would get. It was so enlightening to finally understand what makes Trey the withdrawn and silent type. And believe me, Trey definitely has his reasons, and very good ones at that. In some regards Backstage was a slowly developing story. However, it was definitely needed to get the full extent of Trey’s life. He went through so much that shaped him into the man he is that every piece of detail was needed for you to fully understand. I could not have been more pleased with what A.M. did with Trey’s and Tara’s story. Tara, and especially Trey, will stay with me for a long time. Trey will always be one of my most favorite misunderstood bad boys. We also got a glimpse of the other band mates of The Devil’s Lair. (Jack and Leila – sigh). It was so nice to see them from another point of view. They were still the fun loving and goofy group they always were but to see them the way Trey sees them was very interesting. All in all, Trey and Tara’s story couldn’t have been more perfect. A.M. did an outstanding job on delivering a phenomenal story. The anticipation and wait was truly worth it.

I FLOVED this book!! I LOVED him in the Back up series and I love him even more after reading this. Trey is the dark, mysterious bass player in the band Devil's Lair. This book takes you on his journey. You find out why Trey is the way he is. My heart broke at times, while other times I laughed. A.M Madden did a fantastic job with his story. I really recommend this series.

Love the Back-up series and was looking forward to getting to know the mysterious Trey Taylor. A.M. Madden did not disappoint. Having some personal experience with a "religious" upbringing and the greed and hypocrisy that inevitably goes with it, I could totally relate to Trey's upbringing although mine was not quite to that scale. The trials and tribulations that Trey & Tara have to endure are heartbreaking, but in the end true love conquers all! A definite must read!

Holy HOT 5+ stars for Trey’s story!!! A.M. has done it again…there is just no stopping this woman!!! Every one of her babies is better than the last! Every girl loves a bad boy…sorry but it is just ingrained into our DNA I think. As much as we all strive for the perfect man, there is a NEED for the excitement a bad boy brings…the one you can be whatever version of yourself you want to be with…the one you can explore your innermost desires with who won’t give a crap…and Trey Taylor is that man *sigh*.  Trey had me from Back-Up with his man whorishness, witty banter, and dirty jokes. We all knew there were secrets he kept hidden which just added to his appeal…holy hell did A.M. deliver! As much of a prick as he is you just want to hug and hold him for all he has been through in his life from the very first page.  This book tore my heart right out of my chest, stomped on it, and put it back in complete with sugar-coated stitches. I laughed, I cried, I went into a rage…total emotional steamroller! Congratulations and heavy bowing are in order for A.M. Madden and the masterpiece she has brought to us with this entire series. If you haven’t already lube your one-clicker and hurry up already…you NEED to read this series!!!

Often people are not who they appear to be, and Trey Taylor is the King of Imposters!  He seems to be the epitome of a hard rocker, living a lifestyle that many men would envy. Fame, fortune, women falling at his feet, and enough sex to satisfy the manwhore image he projects. He's talented, gorgeous, and rightfully cocky! So, why is it that even his best friends know nothing about him? Trey is the dark, brooding bass player for the band Devil's Lair, and we've all been waiting to get to know him. Who knew that all of the cockiness, whoring, and brooding was his attempt to mentally escape from his heartbreaking past?   A.m. has crafted Trey's story perfectly. Each time she focuses on a certain part of his life, we get to see and feel another layer of his inner wall being built. Each layer hides another part of who he really is and protects him from being hurt again. Each layer brought me to tears (and I don't often cry while reading) and drew me deeper into the story. Thankfully, walls that go up eventually come down. Hearts that are torn apart eventually heal.   A.m. Madden blew me away with this book!!  Her writing is emotionally powerful and engaging. The characters are relatable and the relationships between them are realistic. I would highly recommend this book to anyone looking for a story to become involved in, who likes to feel the emotions of the characters. Yes, it's a sexy love story, but be prepared for so much more!!

OMG I FLOVE this book!!! I fell in love with Jack & Leila's story with Back-Up, Front & Center, & Encore. We all learned the life of a rock star and being a member of the band Devil's Lair. You get to learn a little bit of each character. But BACKSTAGE is Trey's story.. We have always seen him as that guy that is dark & mysterious with a cocky smile. He hides behind his sunglasses for what reason? What is he hiding from? .. Every girl wants him & every guy wants to be him. He never gave us anything, no info about is past.. We all want to know why Trey is the way he is... In BACKSTAGE A.M. Madden delivered a freakin awesome book. With Trey's story there is no holding back, he is a good bad boy!! I don't want to spoil anything and will update my review once the book is release.. But if you have not read the Back-up series yet get on it... BACKSTAGE starts with Trey's life at a young age and goes thru all the drama. You find what brought on this mask or sunglass to hide is past. BACKSTAGE shows how Trey meets the members of Devil's Lair. Trey has had love, loss, heartache, & will he every accept love? Will he every find happiness? Have to read it to find out.. You will not be disappointed with this book. I am hope this is not the end of the series.. I hope A.M. Madden will write another book in this series.. I don't want it to end, and I will not accept that this the end. But if it is, what a good ending it is...

I was LUCKY enough to be a beta reader BACKSTAGE by AM MADDEN...So I gave her my input and in exchange I'm leaving my honest review. OMG, Backstage was freaking fabulous. It is definitely my favorite of the Back Up Series by Am Madden. Trey's story is the UNBELIEVEABLE journey from his late teen years through the present. It is angsty, emotional, sexy and SO FREAKING GOOD...and yeah...I did say SEXY, right? we all know that's what we love about Trey...his sexy factor and funny one liners. I know Trey is a favorite character from the series, and loved by many, and I can tell you...YOU WILL BE BLOWN'll get all the juicy details and see who Trey is inside and out, and what made him who he is today. You'll get to meet some of the women in his life, find out how he began his musical career, get to meet his parents and all of the people that made Trey Taylor! The glimpses into his youth and his first love were so's so hard to explain to your kids why your crying as your reading.. LOL The End...oh my totally unbelievably exciting...just WOW.. Like I said at the beginning... BACKSTAGE, the Back Up Series, book 4 is the BEST ONE YET!!!

EPIC! Let me start out by saying that I finished Backstage a couple of days ago and yet I'm still not sure that I will be able to properly convey how amazing this book is.   That being said, I LOVED it so very much!  In my opinion, there aren't enough stars here.     We meet Trey Taylor in The Back-Up series, who is so hard and mysterious that you can't help but NEED to know more about him.  He kept everyone at arms length with the exception of Leila, who puts a tiny crack in his wall.  In Backstage, A.m Madden tells us the story of Trey's past and what made him into the closed man he is now.   I will be honest and say Trey's story made me ugly cry several times.  My heart was broken and put back together over and over again.  Also laughed, cheered, and fell in love with Trey.  I wish I were a writer so I could put the my feelings about this book into the best words.   I LOVE A.m Madden and her fantastic writing.  Have been a HUGE fan since page one of Back-Up and I will say her rocker series is truly my favorite.  Every book gets better and better with Backstage being EPIC!   Do yourself a huge solid and GET THIS BOOK!

So this book is a major roller coaster... I really REALLY LOVED (yes shouty capitals) this book!! It's my fave in the series, no doubt about it. Trey is a super complex character and has a depth I was not expecting. I did suspect a troubled past, but not one of my gazillion theories was dead on. After leaving his old-self behind in Utah his life turns to pretty much sex and becoming a rockstar. Life is going ok until he moves to NYC and his life changes for ever. After winning a contest he meets his new band mates and the rest is history.  Life as a major rockstar totally works for him until he meets the one and his past catches up with him. Really peeps, this series is AWESOME!! A.M. Madden, you're forever in my fave authors list. Pick it up, you won't be disappointed.

I have been a fan of A.M. Madden’s book since I read Back Up. Give me a hot, romantic, sexy rocker read by her and I’m a happy reader. However, when she adds intrigue and suspense to her stories, I am an ecstatic reader. Until reading Backstage, my favorite book by Ms. Madden was Front & Center. As of now, Trey’s story is my favorite. Throughout the series, readers have come to know Trey as the cocky, broody, manwhore that he is. While his character has been well developed through the series, his personal background remains an enigma. In my mind, I had conjured up a backstory for Trey and why he goes through life as he does. However, the real story blew me away! Trey’s issues began with his childhood. His family gives a new definition to dysfunctional. He had one saving grace in his life. His father destroyed it; sending a heartbroken, disillusioned young man on the run. Contrary to his upbringing, Trey begins a life of excess, in women and sex. He let’s no one in; cares for no one. His only goals in life are to start a new life, play his guitar and hide from his past. The story follows Trey Taylor through his experiences in L.A. and New York. Life in New York takes a more positive turn. Trey meets Jack and Hunter from the band Devil’s Lair. After joining the band, Trey remains a puzzle to his band mates, but his life seems to be on an even keel; music, women and sex. Unexpectedly, the band’s popularity soars and Trey’s life is forever changed. An interview for Rolling Stone magazine places a woman in Trey’s life that throws his life plan off its axis. While he feels he is unworthy of happiness, fate plans to grab him by the heart. His past resurfaces, threatening the order he has fought so hard to preserve and the heart that he has tried so hard to harden. Trey’s story is well crafted by Ms. Madden. His story is a rollercoaster of events in Trey's life. The reader’s emotions will be all over the spectrum. I found myself angry at the situations, smiling at the humor and smitten with Trey and his band family. I truly believe that Ms. Madden has found her stride and writing romantic suspense is definitely her element. I highly recommend Backstage, as well as the entire Back Up series. MrsHerk

Watch out Jack Lair, Trey is moving to the TOP!!!! Sooooooooo let me start by saying I ABSOLUTELY LOVED this book!!! Omg!!! But really it's AMAZING!!!! A. M. Madden is one of my all time favorite authors that's for sure!!! She knows exactly how to draw you in, captivate you, intrigue you like no other, make you feel as if you are apart of the story!! Honestly those are all the qualities I look for and consider a good book!!! This book made me, laugh, cry, but more made me understand. It's fast paced and will keep you up all night till you finish it!! Definitely like a drug that sucks you in and won't let you stop till you finish it!! Let me start by saying I'm not one to give away parts in my reviews! I think everyone wants and NEEDS to read it for themselves!!!! Soooo Trey we learned about him in book 1-3 ( which might I add you need to read!!! You will ABSOLUTELY LOVE them. Jack Lair hands down is one of my favorite book boyfriends!!! He's AMAZING but now Trey . . . Wow )In the first 3 books you could tell Trey had HUGE secrets, was distant, and always had a new women! You never really heard about his secrets or past but you could tell he DEFINITELY had one and a good one!!!! He's been a mystery an enigma in the other books!! You will soon find out ( when you 1click this book and I DEFINITELY know you will . . . . If not I'm telling you to NOW . . . . Don't wait any longer!!! ) all things Trey from the beginning of this book!! You will know the man behind the enigma, his past, his reasons for everything!

Hot, intense, enchanting, intriguing, heartbreaking... These are simply few words of the thousands that are passing through my head while trying to describe this amazing book. I love rock star romance and The Back-up Series by A.M. Madden is one of my favorite. Up till yesterday Jack Lair was also my favorite rock star bad boy and number one BBF. Well, all that changed once I started reading Backstage. We all know Trey Taylor as the bad boy bass player who looks like he doesn't have a care in the world, the loner, the outsider in the band, the guy who doesn't care much about the world around him and changes his one night stands faster than you can blink. Well, your opinion of him will be forever changed once you start reading his story. This book had me in tears after the first few pages. I feel obliged to say that it is not often that a book can make me cry. With that said, I was crying for most of this one. The story is so heartbreaking. I always expected that there was something dark in Trey's past but I never expected what was so masterfully revealed on the pages. The anguish and pain he feels during the book felt so real that I had to stop every now and then to catch my breath. My eyes are tearing even now when I remember all the demons Trey had to fight for his happiness. The truth is that I wouldn't change a word in this story. It is fast paced and there isn't even a single line that is boring or anything of the sort. It kept me on my toes all the time and it is definitely intriguing. I loved the darker note of the story because it completely fits with Trey's personality from the other books in the series. At the same time there are some lighthearted moments and some extremely hot once who bring a nice balance to the heartbreaking and anguishing once. Backstage definitely became my favorite book from The Back-up Series and I think it always will be. There was just something about Trey and his story that really touched my heart. Combined with the great way the book was written, and I have to say that it will be really difficult to find another book to compete with this one. It is just that good. And Trey will be forever tattooed on my heart ;)

I fell in love with Trey Taylor, in the Back-Up Series, and could not wait to get my hands on this book. Well, let me tell you it was definitely worth the wait, A.M. Madden outdid herself on this one! The mysterious Trey, grabbed my heart in the first three books, and he has not let go of it yet! The first books left me wondering about the tattooed and talented bass player of Devil's Lair, it seemed that there was a lot more to the man, something deeper than what A.M. allowed us to see. Deeper was right, this young man that hides behind his shades, his cocky grin and cockier attitude, has very good reasons for the way that he is.  This book is awesome and emotional, one minute I found myself reaching for tissues and the next laughing out loud at Trey's antics. I hated his father, and felt so sorry for Trey as a teenager. I loved the fact that the other members of Devil's Lair are also in this book, I especially like the way that Trey and Leila interact. I am not going to give anything away, other than to say if you read Back-Up, Front & Center and Encore, then you have to read this book. If you haven't read the Back-Up Series, you are really missing out on a fantastic story with rock stars, romance, steamy sex, intrigue, mystery, laughter, friendship and the list goes on.  A.M. Madden, you have written a series that will stick with the reader long after the last page is turned. (Love how Trey got his name!!)
