Barbie
The secret to a beautiful life – and complexion – is a little blood and a lot of bodies. It is the end of 1924, and 23 year old Eddie Brooks is freshly graduated, unemployed, and frankly, slightly suicidal. His only option, as he sees it, is to move in with his smug, materialistic brother, Charles, a Wall Street broker who believes to be the incarnation of God himself. And of course, God has a reputation, one whose little brother could so easily destroy with his social ineptness. So, like the gracious brother he is, Charles obtains a writing job for Eddie, covering the pulse of gossip in their elite, social society. Not much one for gossip or any social experience, Eddie finds little joy in his new job, until assigned a piece that takes him into the eye of the storm: Barbie Bell. As Eddie dives further into the mysterious entity that is Barbie – a widowed starlet whose husband’s disappearance is a mystery to the very day – he becomes her own project, slowly crafting him into a respectable, cultured man. With every encounter, Eddie’s dependence grows further, having him plummet from obsession to addiction. Blinded by his love, Eddie finds difficulty separating his passion from reality, paying little attention to the disappearances associated with the infamous Barbie Bell parties. And as the lies and deceit escalate further, bodies discovered and fingers pointed, the new Eddie continues to plan their future, as Barbie plans something all of her own.
