Make 2.

Rnd 1 (RS): Leaving long beg tail, make a slip ring, ch 1, 6 sc in ring, join in first sc. Pull gently on beg tail to close sts. (6 sc)

Row 2: Now working in rows, ch 2(see Pattern Notes), hdc in base of beg ch-2, 2 hdc in each of next 3 sc, leave rem sts unworked, turn. (8 hdc)

Row 3: Ch 3(see Pattern Notes), dc in base of beg ch-3, 2 dc in each st across. Leaving a long tail for sewing, fasten off. (16 dc)


Finishing

Referring to photo, position each Eye with bottom edges at 45-degree angle from top edge of Basket and corner of last row slightly below point of picot. Leave approximately ½ inch between lower corners.

Thread beg tail on needle. Working from back to front through center of rnd 1 and then from front to back between rnds 1 and 2, sew over each st of rnd 1 through both thicknesses.

With end tail, sew outer edge of Eye to Basket.


Beak

With straight stitches(see illustration), make a triangle with point facing down between Eyes, fill in with straight stitches.
