BATTLES OF THE ‘45

PRESTONPANS—21st September 1745

FALKIRK—17th January 1746

CULLODEN—16th April 1746

On 23rd July 1745, Prince Charles Edward arrived in Scotland with nine companions, few arms and little money. The news aroused both dismay and enthusiasm amongst his supporters, but, in the last battles to be fought on British soil, they twice defeated the numerically superior and better disciplined government armies before the Duke of Cumberland exacted a terrible revenge at Culloden.

“This is history as it should be written…”—BOOKS AND BOOKMEN
