Linda Kage has given her readers a little voodoo magic wrapped in fairytale happily ever after with Pick's “meant to be,” love-of-his-life romance. Eva, whose life was all about being treated like a princess, goes from rich to poor…and pregnant. Pick is a poor orphan who was raised in social services and lived in foster homes, but he becomes the rich prince. Only this prince is a bad/good boy with tattoos and piercings. Yep, definitely my kind of prince. Pick was well on his way to becoming a bad boy at the age of twelve. Being an orphan and living in abusive foster homes, there was only one way he had seen his life turning out, until one night when he gets a glimpse of the life he could have if he just didn't miss meeting his soul mate. Pick never thought when he met her, his Tinker Bell, that she would be pregnant. But Eva never thought her hero would have tattoos and piercings, and come from the wrong side of town. Pick and Eva's fairytale is not your Prince Charming and Cinderella fairytale, but it is one that will melt your heart and have you rooting for this bad boy to get his is happily ever after. Linda Kage gives readers a fantastic, twisted fairytale with Pick and Eva, but boy do these two make twisted so swoon worthy sexy. I highly recommend Be My Hero in the Forbidden Men series.

I love this series. It's one of the best New Adult series' out there. The characters are all real and clearly with issues. Nothing is average or packaged. Each story has it's own flavor but the cast of characters that fill the books are some of the best people I know. Yes, I feel like I know them. I've read these books out of order and I'm trying to catch-up on the ones I missed along the way. I know Pick. He's this charmer with the biggest heart know to the male race. I have wondered about him as I've read others stories so I was excited to get his story. Eva is this strong, opinionated women that I, frankly, didn't like very much. She's getting in the way of one of my very favorite males in this series, Mason. So she had a long way to go to earn my affection. While I never really loved her, I did come to understand her and feel for her. And I saw what Pick sees in her. This one is emotional. There's just no getting around the idea that a pregnancy with a mom that has nothing and nowhere to go is gonna pull on my heart strings. But then you add the issues from Eva's past and a twist I didn't see coming and you get some serious tears. And that doesn't even include another scare that sends Pick racing into the night. I was wanting to crawl inside this book and so some major damage with my mama claws. One of the things that I love about this series and this author is that no book feels like you've read it before in another setting. Just so genuine and real, these books will addict you. When you just need something real, pick up a book from this series.

Plot and Story Line Be My Hero begins with seeing Eva with her cousin Reese and her boyfriend Mason. Which was quite fun seeing these two more, since they just might be my favorite couple so far. We then get to see all of the other characters involved, Ten, Quinn, and Noel. We see some dramatics that happen in the second book, but in a different point of view, which was very interesting to see. We also get to see a side to Pick you don’t see in the other books in the series. Man how I love this hero…he is delicious in every way. From the beginning we see how he is with an infant…and oh my…would I marry him just with the way he is with his son…its so precious and just breaks your heart. What is really heartbreaking though is when he meets his Tink just right after he has gone to the courthouse to marry someone he doesn’t love in any passionate way. This is where the conflict of their relationship comes in. When his “wife” leaves (and the way she does it made me want to murder her myself), the child needs someone to watch him, so Eva (Tink) agrees to. And they begin a friendship of sorts, but soon the desire they feel for each other, explodes and they can resist one another but they don’t act on it fully even if they want to. What we really see in Be My Hero is a story of love that may not have a happy ending. We see the emotional turmoil and the testing of character. We see the inner strength and fortitude these two have to just enjoy the little time they may have together. We see the development of a love story The Cover I love the color contrast of the cover…with the red and bright blue and the black background. Not my favorite cover of the series, but I love how it centers on the heroine and her circumstances, which is a good portion of the book. Overall View Be My Hero is a wonderful addition to this series that has won my heart with each book. It’s a story of sacrifice, love, and destiny. A tale that gives you a glimpse of family life, of a romance so sweet and perfect…a wonderful blending of heartwarming romance to knock you off your feet!! AMAZING!!

I absolutely love Kage’s style! She weaves a brilliant, unique, unforgettable story that will leave you reeling and gasping for more. There was more than once when I found myself staring at the pages of this book, trying to figure out how it would all work out. And sure, there were a few times where I kind of wondered what had just happened, but together Kage created a unique whole that definitely had me captivated. The unique and touching characters in this novel really called to me. Not only were they well developed & well rounded (or a little skewed stemming from their backgrounds) but they were genuine and caring individuals. The past hurts and traumas that need to be healed combine with present feelings in ways that make them quite memorable. I felt like I really got to know them through Kage’s words. Overall, this was a remarkably unique, wonderfully fulfilling novel. I’d recommend it to those who enjoy romance with a different outlook on life. Please note that I received a complimentary copy of this work in exchange for an honest review.

Be My Hero by Linda Kage is the third book in her Forbidden Men series. While it is part of a series it definitely can be read as a standalone novel. This is the story of Pick and Eva. The tale is told from both perspectives and is such a fantastic read. It shows the dark and miserable childhoods that they both suffered through without making it over the top. It shows both these characters as damaged individuals who choose to rise above their pasts and not let the darkness drag them down. The connections are electric and I really couldn't put this book down. Every moment not reading was a moment I was waiting to be able to pick it back up again. I will definitely be reading more from this author as soon as I am able to.
