About the Author

William G. Huitt is Professor Emeritus at Valdosta State University, Adjunct Faculty at Capella University, and Founder/Co-Director of Community Development through Academic Service Learning. He holds a Ph.D. in Educational Psychology and an M.Ed. in Business Education from the University of Florida, and a B.S. in Business Administration from the University of South Alabama. His primary areas of interest are educational psychology, cognitive psychology, and developmental psychology. He has teaching experience at the middle school, high school, technical school, community college and university levels. He and his wife, Marsha, spent two years in the Peace Corps in Truk (Chuuk) District, Micronesia, and three years teaching at Navajo Community College (Dine College) on the Navajo Reservation in Northern Arizona. His professional experience also includes three years as a research associate with Research for Better Schools, a federally-funded regional research and development laboratory specializing in educational improvement.
