CHAPTER 1
Oh! What is that noise? I opened my eyes looking around the room. The strange smell made me so hungry. I looked at Annie, wake up! Wake up! Annie begins to stir; Betsy said, "Annie get up I am so hungry."
Annie picked me up and wrapped a blanket around me. I looked up and smiled she smiled back. Breakfast is ready and I am hungry too Betsy!!
Then I heard this voice. Oh! I remember that's the nice farmer who brought me in out of the cold. He put me in his warm pocket. My friend wrapped me in a warm blanket and gave me warm milk. Will this be my new home? Annie was holding me in her arms as we sat down at the table.
I blinked back the tears, I am so happy I must not cry as all the new faces were staring at me. Annie gave me a hug and I smiled at her. The nice farmer said, let's bow our heads and give thanks to God for our many blessing. I watched Annie put her hands together and bowed her head I must do the same.
This was the beginning of my new life and my new friend. Life will be a real adventure for me. Annie must teach me how to share and play. I must learn to live with her family. Now this is my home too!
I had my bottle of milk watching Annie, her father and all these strange faces looking at me. This must be Annie's sister and brothers. I smiled and smiled, and everyone laughed and I laughed too. Annie's sister and brothers finished eating breakfast and left the table to play.
Betsy said, Annie what is your father doing? Annie said Betsy my father likes to read the newspaper. Annie's father picked Betsy up and kissed her on the top of the head. Betsy said that made me happy he loves me. Is he going to my best friend too!!
I must go feed the animals and make sure they are warm he said. Betsy! Annie's father said you and Annie will have fun on the farm. When spring comes Annie can show you all the wild flowers.
Annie's mother said Betsy I have made a bed in Annie's doll buggy. Betsy this little buggy will be for you to ride in while you are little. Betsy said, I've never seen a buggy before, we all laughed I known Betsy you are a little pig and Betsy laughed. I am a little pig and my name is Betsy.
