This is a sequel to Bob Craven’s rst book “Tiptoe through the Snowdrops”, published in 2004. Forced to retire in 1993 after a career investigating major crime, he shares his and his wife, Dorothy’s experience dealing with and managing the horrors of Post- Traumatic Stress Disorder coupled with chronic asthma and heart disease for over 30 years. In doing so he aims to help others live a normal life even though battered by mental and physical illnesses. Humour, laughter, engaging with others creating calm, being positive and always looking to the future has been the essence of their success. He re ects on his life before as a teenager and during his police service and after forced retirement working with charities and others in need. Now disabled mentally and physically he reports on his treatment and of those who are victims of similar situations. He wants to save lives by telling his story being open about his dark suicidal thoughts and the techniques and skills he uses to thwart such actions. About the Author

Bob joined the then Southend on Sea Borough Constabulary on 13 July 1967. Transferred to the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) Southend until returning to Uniform “local bobby” duties and then shortly returned to CID at Basildon. Promoted to Detective Sergeant at Chelmsford and then onto the Regional Crime Squad at Brentwood returning to Divisional CID at Canvey Island. Trained then in Major Incident O ce and managing investigations into serious criminal activity including murder, rape, armed robberies, complex international frauds, money laundering and drugs importations. During this period returned to the Regional Crime Squad at Brentwood and Harlow to carry on the specialist analytical based investigations as above. After a brief return to CID promoted to Detective Inspector on the National Criminal Intelligence Service (NCIS) forerunner of the now National Crime Agency. Working from o ces in London supervising a team of undercover o cers. 1993 forced to retire from the Police Service diagnosed with post-traumatic stress disorder. (PTSD) then carried out investigation and security consultancy in the private sector until 2000 when compelled to stop all work because of serious worsening of mental and physical health.
