Billy Don't, a novel, takes place in Oakland, and other parts of California during the 1930's. It is a story of the conflicts and behaviors which take place in a young boy who is placed with his older sister and younger brother in a boarding home run by the Blair's.

The conflict comes form the evangeslistic preaching of Mrs. Blair wo constantly tells Billy, "Your sole will turn black" or "God will send you to the Devil", and the other understandings he has gained from his grandmother who has taught, "God sees the good in you."

Billy's often wild and vicious behaviors are driven by his hatred for Mrs. Blair.

It is a story of young boy's desperate search for love and understanding.

About the Author

Bill's given name is William J. Baker, Jr. He was born in Oakland, CA. After the divorce of his parents he was placed in a boarding home at age 6 along with his older sister and younger brother.

At thirteen he and his siblings were joined with their mother, step-father and step-brother in East Oakland. In 1944 Bill joined the US Navy.

After discharge he joined the US Air Force, attended OCS and retired as a Lt. Col with 26 years service.

Following retirement he went to work with GE/Honeywell as National Account Manager for the Bechtel and then the Weyerhaeuser Corporations before taking over Computer Sales to the State of California.

In 1975 he went to Iran with Honeywell as advisor to Information Systems, Iran. Upon return to the USA he formed Adroit's Inc., an IT corporation. In 1991 he suffered health problems and went into retirement. He traveled in his RV in Montana and Wyoming before settling down in Sutter Creek, CA where he lives today, with his wife, Judy. Bill is now 85 years of young.
