About the Author

Reza Azin is a professor of petroleum engineering at the Persian Gulf University in Iran, where he also serves as the head of the hydrocarbon resources, energy and environment research group. He holds a BSc and MSc in chemical engineering and PhD in petroleum engineering. He is a senior lecturer and researcher with more than 25 years of experience in academic teaching, supervision of graduate students, innovation mentoring, and consultation to the oil and gas industry and startup businesses. His research focuses on experimental methods in chemical and petroleum engineering through advanced and hi-tech approaches, novel chemicals, PVT analysis and modelling, surface facility design, carbon capture and sequestration, underground gas storage, and chemical process design and simulation.Shahriar Osfouri is a professor of chemical engineering at the Persian Gulf University in Iran, where he also serves as the head of the applied nano-biotechnology research group. He holds a BSc, MSc, and PhD in chemical engineering. His research interests include new materials, dye-sensitized solar cells (DSSCs), and hydrothermal liquefaction (HTL) processes. In the field of new materials, Osfouri has focused on developing novel nanomaterials and exploring their applications in various fields such as enhanced oil recovery, drug delivery systems, and tissue engineering. His work in this area has led to the discovery of new materials with unique properties that can be used in a wide range of applications. In addition, Osfouri's research on dye-sensitized solar cells (DSSCs) has been instrumental in advancing this technology for renewable energy. His work has focused on improving the efficiency and stability of DSSCs and has contributed to a better understanding of the principles behind this promising technology. Osfouri's research has also extended to hydrothermal liquefaction processes, where he has focused on developing biocrude and process conditions to improve the efficiency and sustainability of the process.Ziba Borazjani is a graduate from Persian Gulf University in the chemical engineering. She has got her Master degree in chemical engineering from Isfahan University, Iran. She currently works as researcher at the department of petroleum engineering, Persian Gulf university, Iran. Her research background is process simulation, thermodynamics, energy, and exergy analysis. She is an expert in Aspen Plus simulation, which is the most reliable chemical engineering software. Her current research is the biocrude production of hydrothermal liquefaction from algae. She has published 5 journal and 7 conference papers. Her recent ISI papers about HTL entitled 'Computer-aided exergy evaluation of hydrothermal liquefaction for biocrude production from Nannochloropsis sp', 'Kinetics studies and performance analysis of algae hydrothermal liquefaction process', 'Numerical evaluation of bio-oil yield prediction models for hydrothermal liquefaction of high-lipid microalgae', and 'Global perspective of hydrothermal liquefaction of algae: a review of the process, kinetics, and economics analysis' was published in 2023.
