About the Author

Jeffrey Sackett was born in Brooklyn in 1949, and counts himself fortunate to have gotten home from the hospital unscathed. After studying briefly for the ministry, he decided to embark upon a teaching career. (This was preferable to his alternative at the time, which was a year in Vietnam as a guest of the government.) He subsequently earned three master's degrees and two doctorates, and is currently associate professor of History and Philosophy in two colleges on Long Island, New York.

He explored other career alternatives at various times. He was a bank guard (during which time the bank was robbed while he was taking a nap down in the vault) and a finder of missing persons (most of whom had disappeared on purpose, and threatened him with all manner of physical injury when he found them.) He decided that teaching was probably his safest choice.

He had numerous interesting experiences while traveling in Europe at various times. He was physically ejected from the cathedral of Aachen, Germany, when he could not resist the opportunity to sit on Charlemagne's throne. He was arrested in Vienna, Austria, when he accidentally set off a barrage of burglar alarms in the museum that houses the Hapsburg crown jewels. He was ticketed in London, England, for driving in the wrong direction around Trafalgar Square. (His argument that he was the only person in the country who wasn't driving in the wrong direction did not impress the policeman.) He also attended Oktoberfest, the annual beer festival in Munich. The people he was with tell him that he enjoyed himself immensely.

Five of his historical horror novels were published by Bantam Books. His most recent works are available as ebooks on Nook. Visit his website, jsackett.webs.com, or the website of his current publisher, crossroadpress.com.
