Blown by Braxton Cole

Veronica "Roni" Guard is an undercover cop trying to bust a drug ring. Unfortunately, she runs into her ex-boyfriend, Mateo Vargas, at an illegal street race in the California desert. He just happens to be a pretty big criminal himself. That's why they split originally. No matter how much chemistry they have between them, a cop and a gangster are not a good match. Roni Convinces Mateo to help her with her case, his reluctance derailed by the one thing that always worked between them--sex. Yes, he'll help her. But on one condition. In his world, she belongs to him, and him only.

Will Mateo's possessiveness unravel Roni's case? Or, worse, blow her cover? And if they get out of this alive, is there a future for them together?

Blown contains mature adult themes, including explicit sex scenes. Not intended for an audience under 18 years of age.

"What are you doing here?"

I gave him a onceover. He was an interesting guy. A total thug according to law enforcement, but an absolute gentleman when we'd been together in the past. We'd dated a few times, nothing serious, just long enough for us to get naked and sweaty together. And God, was he glorious in bed. Then I'd realized who he was and he'd realized I could arrest him and that was that. All things considered, I felt pretty damn lucky that he hadn't dropped me into the bottom of an open construction site. That tended to happen with Vargas family enemies.

A small smile worked its way onto his face, then disappeared far too quickly. "Stop smiling at me and answer the question."

In fairness, I hadn't realized I was smiling. He had this amazing golden God effect on women, and knew it. I'd felt it too many times to pretend it hadn't happened, and I'd seen way too many other women respond the same way. For some reason, despite his edict that spending time together was bad for my health, he still showed up at the same clubs that I liked to frequent.

"I'm working."

He stepped closer and my breath caught in my throat. He stopped too far away for me to touch, but close enough that I could feel the energy emanating from his body. That was part of his charm. He was wild, with his impulses barely controlled.

"Working?" He chewed on the word like he couldn't quite believe I'd said it. "Roni, you think this is a joke? Crimson won’t let you live if he figures this out.”

"That's true of most undercover assignments." I shrugged like Crimson didn't scare the living shit out of me. He did. Between him and Luis, I was two seconds from pissing myself. I'm all badass and shit, but those guys are real life gangsters. I'd spent too much time looking at their jackets to not know what I was doing when I agreed to take this assignment.

He covered the last few feet separating us and cupped my cheek in his hand. "Then tell me what’s worth dying for?"

This was supposed to be the actual review. I had to post under another email because the first review listed below was also five stars, yet Barnes and Noble is incapable of making a simple change or deleting a review. Therefore, please ignore the four star review, since it should be five stars. I truly enjoyed this. Both Mateo and Roni are great characters. Stereotypes are disregarded and the tough badass gangster actually is sensitive while the female cop is more interested in hot action than a relationship. Together they work perfectly. And the sex scenes? Hot! Extremely sexy!

Blown by Braxton Cole is a 77 page novella cram packed full with sex, intrigue, sex, danger, sex and more sexy sex. It was a very well rounded, perfectly paced tale and this is the second book I have read by this author and I'm liking her writing style very much. Roni is tough, smart, capable and good at her job. The only mistake she made was not having "Are you part of a crim syndicate" on her pre-date questionnaire. This is where Mateo comes in (literally *sigh*). Mateo is a handsome, rugged, capable male that can't get enough of Roni until he finds that despite the slim odds that the girl he's falling for is an undercover cop, his numbers up and their future is doomed. So what happens when a sexy cop and a rugged criminal can't keep their hands of each other despite how epically Bad an idea it is? You'll just have to read the book and find out...

The first thing that drew me to this book was the cover.  I absolutely LOVE the cover on this book and just knew it would be a book I would love to read.  It's right up my alley especially since more than anything I LOVE to read Erotica, especially when the Erotica is done the right way.  I love reads that are full of passion and are very steamy and Braxton does not disappoint.  This is my first read by Braxton Cole, but will not be my last and have two more books already lined up.  I also really liked the fact that the book just got right up into the story and was short enough for me to enjoy in one afternoon which is refreshing after reading some books that are so long they just seem to drag on forever and have me praying for the end to come.  (Obviously not the case with all full length novels I read) In this story you meet Roni and Mateo.  Roni is an undercover cop out trying to bust a drug ring when she runs into the one person  she never thought she'd see again at an illegal street race her ex-boyfriend Mateo.  He is the one person who knows her secret and could blow her cover.  Mateo and Roni have always had chemistry but when Mateo discovered she was a cop they had no choice but to part ways since he's a gangster and she's a cop.  That right there pulled me right in.  From the start you can tell there relationship was a passionate one since the second he has her alone in the trailer they are already attacking one another.  It's pretty clear though that for Mateo, Roni means more to him than an easy lay and he wants so much more but knows that she can't give it to him.  So he does the one thing that he should never do, agree to help Roni out in busting the bad guy even though in the end he knows that they will have to part ways.  I loved Mateo he would do anything for Roni to protect her even risk getting himself killed all to protect her.  He was all dominant alpha male but instead of his possessiveness being scary or annoying it was sexy as hell! I loved this story and cannot wait to read more of Braxton's work.  This story was well done, well written, and was short, sweet, steamy, and passionate.  I give this one 5 stars! ***Book received in exchange for an honest review***

Holy hotness Batman! When you read erotica, it's usually for the added spice to a story, well Braxton Cole totally hit the mark in this novella. And not only was the erotic aspect amazing but so was the story! Who doesn't love a good crime thriller with the added bonus of hot dangerous sex!?  Mateo. Mateo. Mateo. We all secretly wish we had one. Lol. A bad a** who knows how to treat a woman, his character is totally sexy and Roni is totally bad a** too and a great match for him. Loved it!!
