About the Author

Dr Kendall Pawelec received her PhD from the University of Cambridge, investigating the ice templating process for tissue engineering applications. Since then, she has worked as a Marie Curie Postdoctoral Fellow, in the Netherlands, studying porous biomaterials for bone repair. Currently she is a Research Fellow at the University of Michigan, continuing to examine the impact of material structure on biological responses. She worked with the previous editors organizing the previous edition.
Professor Josep A. Planell is highly regarded for his biomedical research at Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya, Spain.
