Overview

O korole Arture, nepobedimom vozhde brittov, na Tumannom Al'bione bylo slozheno nemalo geroicheskih ballad. On uspeshno protivostoyal zavoevatelyam-saksam, uchredil rycarskij orden Kruglogo stola, za kotorym vse byli ravny mezhdu soboj. Po legende, voinskoj udachej Artur byl obyazan volshebnomu mechu — podarku charodeya Merlina, zhreca kel'tskih druidov... I pust' istoricheskaya pravda pogrebena v toj davnej ehpohe bol'shih peremen, velikogo pereseleniya narodov i stremitel'no zarozhdayushchihsya i ischezayushchih carstv, zavesa proshlogo priotkryvaetsya pered nami siloj pisatel'skogo talanta Bernarda Kornuehlla. YUzhnoj Britanii v VI stoletii grozilo vtorzhenie germanskih varvarov. Artur, nezakonnyj syn verhovnogo korolya, nekogda izgnannyj otcom za more, vozvrashchaetsya na razdiraemuyu mezhdousobicami rodinu, kotoraya pered licom mnogochislennyh vragov nuzhdaetsya v soyuze melkih korolevstv. Ego mozhet skrepit' politicheskij brak Artura s princessoj Kajnvin, no sud'ba rasporyazhaetsya inache... Pervyj roman iz trilogii o legendarnom korole-polkovodce Arture, proniknutyj duhom podlinnoj Istorii.

About The Author

Bernard Cornwell is an English author of historical fiction and a history of the Waterloo Campaign. Among his many books are the New York Times bestsellers 1356 and Agincourt; the bestselling Saxon Tales, which include The Last Kingdom; and the Richard Sharpe novels. He currently lives in the U.S. with his wife. Cornwell is alleged to have begun writing novels because he couldn't get a Green Card when he arrived in the U.S., and writing didn't require a work permit.
