About the Author

Author, playwright, songsmith, actress and educator, LaRonna DeBraak (1953) was born in Colorado and educated at Regis University (MBA) and Colorado State University (Ph.D.). She has written a variety of publications, taught English, mathematics and Business courses, and owned a variety of businesses.

DeBraak's professional writing career began in 1991, when she wrote A Breath of Fresh Air: A Practical Guide for Filtering Out Indoor Air Pollution Utilizing Houseplants. The book was the result of the author's quest to discover the cause of, what later turned out to be, an unsubstantiated asthmatic diagnosis of her daughter. Asthmatic symptoms occurred after DeBraak had redecorated and renovated her daughter's bedroom. DeBraak discovered that the bedroom renovation had released highly toxic pollution levels into the environment that were making her daughter sick. She also unearthed the fact that in other sections of her home, her houseplants were removing the harmful toxins. Soon to be released on Kindle.

DeBraak's second book, and first attempt at writing humor, Nimroddes (men): A Field Guide for Women, enabled two women to heal and laugh and sing, and launched DeBraak's careers as a playwright, songsmith and actress due to the resulting musical, Nimroddes (men): An Educational Musical Comedy for Women. www.nimroddes.com

DeBraak continues to teach an online English course because she loves providing students with the tools they'll need to write their own stories and achieve their own dreams.

DeBraak is a dedicated mother and grandmother and an active member of the Red Hat Society. She resides in Arvada, Colorado where she can remain deeply connected with her two grown children, three grandchildren, and an eclectic group of fabulous friends.
