Broslin Bride (Gone and Done it) by Dana Marton

Luanne Mayfair might have killed her boss a little... A brand new humorous, sexy romantic suspense from NY Times bestselling author Dana Marton.

Praise for Broslin Bride

"...what a delight!!... An extremely fun read with moments of great hilarity, some surprisingly steamy interludes and good suspense with unexpected twists and turns... A plucky, touching, slow-burning and vivid puzzle." Ripe For Reader Reviews

"A quirky murder mystery that leaves you guessing until the end." SNS Reviews

The worst time to be charged with murder is:

A, When you have no alibi for the night in question.

B, When you have no memory of the night in question.

C, When you told people you hated the victim.

D, When the detective is the 1st guy you ever slept with--which didn't end well.

Check all of the above for Luanne Mayfair. If it wasn't for bad luck, she wouldn't have any luck at all. Okay, maybe a little luck. As it turns out, Detective Chase Merritt doesn't hold grudges.

He still looks at Luanne just as he did in high school, except he's grown some serious 'hot cop' muscles--very distracting when Luanne is trying to avoid the very law Chase represents.

Is she the killer? Is she being framed? Is she the next victim? As Chase and Luanne race to find some answers, danger and heat ratchet up in this fast-paced romantic mystery that will stop your heart one second, then steal it in the next.

More praise for Dana Marton's work:

"Marton knows what makes a hero...her characters are sure to become reader favorites." RT Book Review Magazine

"It's impressively easy to become immersed in Marton's fantasy world. Readers will find it impossible not to care what happens next..." Kirkus Review

BROSLIN BRIDE is the fifth instalment in Dana Marton’s contemporary, adult romance  Broslin Creek suspense series. This is Detective Chase Merritt and local cleaning woman Luanne Mayfair’s storyline. Luanne is a single parent raising her two five year old twin sisters, struggling to keep a roof over their heads and food on the plate. But a blind date at a local bar turns to charges of murder when Luanne wakes up the next morning with no memory of what happened or how she got home. BROSLIN BRIDE is a story of suspense, murder and a second chance at love. Told from third person POV, the storyline follows the investigation into the hit and run murder of Luanne’s slimy boss Earl. All of the motel employees where Luanne works had a grudge against Earl for his sexual harassment and threatening attitude but somehow Luanne found herself the object of the investigation when evidence pointed in her direction.  Enter Detective Chase Merritt-the man she hasn’t forgotten in over ten years. Luanne and Chase knew one another in high school but things fell apart for the couple when Luanne’s best friend began gossiping in school. Ten years later, Luanne and Chase will reconnect when Chase heads up the investigation into Earl’s murder and the possibility the Luanne is a victim as well. The attraction to one another is immediate and in the end Luanne and Chase will get their happily ever after-but not before someone close destroys Luanne’s faith in friendship and love. Dana Marton pulls the reader into a storyline of mystery, suspense, betrayal and love. The secondary characters include family, friends and co-workers including the eccentric Aunt Hilda who is the perfect foil for Luanne’s need to clean.  Although this is the fifth storyline in the series, it can be read as a standalone without too much difficulty. Some of the previous storyline characters play a small secondary role by way of mention but do not affect the understanding of the series. Broslin Bride is a storyline of building love and never giving up. Dana Marton writes a compelling and intelligent storyline where the twist at the end-you never saw coming. The storyline is billed as a novella but with close to 200 pages, it is closer to a full length storyline than a short instalment.

Another winner from Dana Marton. A little more light hearted than the rest of the series, but still has enough suspense moments to have you wondering ‘whodunnit?’ I’ve never met a Dana Marton book I didn’t like!

Gone and Done It was such a refreshing and enjoyable story. It was funny and had the small town charm that allowed the reader to get caught up in the wonderful characters created by Dana Marton. Luanne is a young woman and life took an unexpected turn when she had to give up her dreams to return home to care for her twin sisters after her mother dies of cancer. Instead of being bitter about her lot in life she accepts the challenge and does what she has to do to provide for her little sisters. Her best friend since high school helps her out by watching the twins while Luanne works. Luanne decides to meet with someone she has met on social media for a drink. Jen babysits while Luanne finally decides to do something for herself and goes out on a date. Once Luanne gets to the bar she waits for her date to show up but soon realizes he is a no show. The events of the night and coming days are not what Luanne expected especially when she wakes up the next day to a terrible hangover and almost no memory of what happened the night before. Luanne finds herself in a situation that will change her life in ways she never imagined. Chase is the detective that helps Luanne work through the charges brought against her. They have a funny history from a time in high school and Luanne has stayed away from Chase all the years since then. Dana Marton does a great job with the storyline and gives the reader a grand adventure with betrayal…a bit of danger…and some really sweet delicious romance. Just a great feel good story. Highly recommend this book. I was given a copy of this book for an honest review.

I loved it and hope that it is going to be a series.  It was listed as a novella but I did not get any feeling that the book was rushed.  I love when a male protagonist, or in that case the whole town, believes in the innocence of the female.  He has know her for a long time with a bit of their past that he would like to forget but he feels that he really knows her so when he has to arrest her for murder, he is more focused on finding the real killer than in proving her guilt.  I wish real life could be like that.  But the people felt real and the warmth of the characters worked for me.

You will most definitely want to read BROSLIN BRIDE: GONE AND DONE IT in one sitting.  "Okay, more disclosure. I'm not a fugitive at the moment, but I might become one. I don't know if I'm going back for a trial. I can't go to prison and leave the twins alone. We'll leave before it comes to that. I don't want to get you in trouble." Hilda waved off the words. "I'm an old woman. They ain't gonna take me out of here in shackles. I've seen most of the local officers run around in diapers." Luanne was pretty sure that didn't mean immunity. She'd seen Chase naked, and that hadn't stopped him from arresting her. She didn't tell that to Aunt Hilda. BROSLIN BRIDE: GONE AND DONE IT by Dana Marton is a fast-paced, profoundly realistic, action-packed thriller with a riveting romance and just the right dash of humor. It's the fifth book in Dana's Broslin Creek series. Each of the books in this series features a different swoon worthy law enforcement officer in the small town Broslin Police Department as the lead character with their own story. Even though there are interconnected characters, all the books in this series can easily be enjoyed as a standalone, out of series order. BROSLIN BRIDE: GONE AND DONE IT is the story of Detective Chase Merritt and Luanne Mayfair and I ate it up! First, I have to share this. I became hooked on this series after listening to the first book, DEATHWATCH, as an audible. I loved that book, too, but felt that the ending left me hanging. I'm thrilled to report that in BROSLIN BRIDE: GONE AND DONE IT, DEATHWATCH garners it's very satisfying closure in the Epilogue. What a wonderful surprise that was! It was PERFECT! I'm happy dancing all over the place!!!!! Thank you, Dana! My full review has been posted at Reading Between The Wines Book Club. . 5 Wine Glasses!

I love this entire series ... each story a creative who-done-it full of romance. My only complaint on this story is that it was too short.

Started out kind of slow but sped up pretty well. This seems like a rather short story though.

I have thoroughly enjoyed every story in this series, and this one was no exception. It had just the right amount of suspense mixed with dry humour and emotional depth. Chase and Luanne were real people, and I spent an enjoyable evening in their company. I was sorry when it ended.  My only gripe, and the reason it lost a star was, the ending was a little rushed. I would have preferred the book to be a little longer if that's what it took, but certainly a smoother build up to the reveal.  I do hope there are going to be more stories about this particular police office, because it's always worth a visit.

Broslin Bride Gone and Done It is a fun read.    I received a copy from the author in exchange for my honest opinion.   This is the first book that I have read by Dana Marton and I really enjoyed it. Broslin Bride is a fun read that has some twists.   Halfway through the story I thought that I had the mystery figured out, but I was completely wrong. I look forward to reading the other books   in the series.

Dana Marton has "Gone and Done It" again! Dana has once again brought us a book with fantastic character development that wrapped perfectly with a well developed plot. It was fantastic the underlying twist that really brought you to a fantastic "ah ha" moment when the killer is revealed. I was pleasantly surprised with this book. I've been a big fan of Ms. Marton's since I first discovered her books, but thought for sure that this would be the book that would leave me with a "meh" moment. Definitely not, this one is even better than the last book. I love the humor she brought out in her characters while keeping them realistic and in touch with reality. The only complaint I have is that I've finished and now must wait for Ms. Marton to put out her next book.

Wow! I loved this one in the series. Loved the two main characters, Chase and Luanne and all the secondary characters. Romance, humor and a mystery (who done it) that I thought I had all figured out and but was I surprised! Looking forward to the next one. Well done! JudyE

Oh my goodness where do I start on this one?!? I LOVED Broslin Bride: Gone and Done it. I have to say I was completely hooked with the first sentence on the first page of this book. It captivated my attention and did not let go.   Luanne Mayfair is one busy lady. She is guardian to her twin little sisters and she takes the responsibility very seriously. She's working two jobs to try to keep up. Just when she is thinking life is rough, it gets rougher. Her boss is killed and all the evidence points to her. I don't want to tell you too much about this great story. I will tell you that it is Awesome! Dana Marton has done a fabulous job yet again with a great storyline, fun characters, and suspense that will keep you on the edge of your seat. You better hold on tight because this book is going to throw you for a loop.  Luanne thinks she is had when it turns out that Chase Merritt is the detective of the case for her boss' death. It turns out Chase really is a good guy though and doesn't hold the past against Luanne.  I have had the chance to read other books in the Broslin Creek series and I have loved them all, but I think this one might be my favorite so far.  The twin little girls in this book are adorable and make you fall completely in love with them quickly. You can see why their big sister will do anything to protect them. I was completely taken by surprise with a few things in this book. I'm not going to tell you what they are, I'm just going to say say HURRY! Go grab your copy of this book and start reading. If you enjoy suspense, laughter, and romance I think your going to love this book. I know I certainly did. This book is part of the Broslin Creek series, however it can easily be read as a stand alone book if you haven't read the rest of the series yet.  I always enjoy Ms. Marton's work and I can not wait to see what she has in store for us lucky readers next. I know it will be an enjoyable read.  I received the opportunity to read this book so that I may share my thoughts with you. As always it has been my pleasure to share my thoughts with you on Broslin Bride: Gone and Done it.

BROSLIN BRIDE [GONE AND DONE IT] by Dana Marton is a humorous Romantic Suspense. #5 in the "Broslin Creek" series, but can be read as a stand alone. A Novella! A quick, humorous romantic suspense with danger, mystery, and romance. "Gone and Done IT" has a lighter tone than the other Broslin Creek stories. A fun beach read! You gotta love Luanne Mayfair and Detective Chase Merritt. You will not regret reading GONE AND DONE IT. Fast paced and well written. Once again, Ms. Marton has written a keeper! A delightful read that is fun and quirky with engaging characters and an intriguing storyline. Received for an honest review from the author. I received a copy of this book from the author in exchange for an honest review. I found this to be another amazing addition to an amazing series. I have read every one of them so far and this one didn't disappoint. Luanne finds herself in trouble after a night out that she can't seem to remember. Deputy Chase has always had a thing for Luanne but finds himself in over his head when she is implicated in a crime. I loved the way Luanne and Chase reconnect after many years and a failed first time. The story left me guessing and was thrown for a curve when the person behind everything is revealed.

This book had me hooked from the very beginning. It was full of suspense and romance. There was also a bit of humor thrown in as well. As I read this book, I kept going back and forth between she did or she didn't. When it was finally revealed who actually committed the crime, I was done for. I was completely blindsided and I LOVE IT!! If you like some suspense and mystery with your romance, you will not be disappointed with Gone and Done It.

I received a complimentary copy from the author in exchange for an honest review. Luanne Mayfair is struggling along, working as a maid in the local motel and trying to raise her young twin sisters after their mother died. Barely able to stay afloat and pay the bills, she has little time and no money for fun. When a man she met online three months ago asks to meet for a face-to-face drink, she jumps at the chance. But the guy never shows and when another guy asks to buy her a drink, she accepts. She remembers nothing after that. She awakes the next morning to the news that her boss at the motel has been killed in a hit and run and the damage to the front of her car indicates she is most likely the one who killed him. Chase Merritt is the detective investigating the crime. He is also her "first" from back in high school. Young and inexperienced, she had no idea what to expect and told her friend it wasn't any good. Her friend spread it around that Chase was lousy in bed and an embarrassed Luanne spent the next ten years avoiding him. Until now. Was the attraction still there between them? How can Chase effectively investigate this incident when he can't stop thinking about Luanne? And how can Luanne confess to something she doesn't remember? She will do anything to keep from going to prison and allow some stranger to raise her sisters. I read the first two Broslin books, Deathwatch and Deathscape, and liked each of them a lot. I have yet to read Deathtrap and Deathblow and look forward to reading them both. Broslin Bride is Book 5 in this series and I was excited to get an advance copy. For me, it fell a little short of the two I already read. While I actually liked both Chase and Luanne a lot, I found it hard to feel the attraction between them. Maybe because it took almost the entire book for them to acknowledge it. When they finally did, they got right to it without much of the preliminaries. It's those preliminaries that build the sizzle and I just didn't feel it. I did, however, like the story itself. Sometimes I felt there was a little too much explaining and speculation inside the characters heads, and for me, that was a distraction from the action. Broslin Bride was a little more humorous and light compared to the first two books in the series, which were quite a bit more suspenseful and serious. I like Dana Marton's Broslin Creek series and I would definitely recommend this book as well as her others. I know I will continue to read the upcoming books in this series and catching up with books 3 and 4 soon.

This is the first one of the Broslin Creek Romantic Suspense Series that I have read and I loved it. It was funny, suspenseful, a great who done it with a little romance involved. What do you do when your thoughts about your dirty, mean boss actually comes true and you can remember what happened? You will find yourself wondering why and who would set Luanne up? Good thing she has Chase on her side. Even after the rumor from high school, he still wants to help her. Can they figure out who killed her boos or will she go to jail and someone else raises her twin sisters? If you love a great story with a little intrigue and that will have you wanting more until the end, then this one is for you. I will go back and read more from this series. So get it and enjoy it. **Copy provided by the author in exchange for my honest review.

What a lovely outstanding read, you will get to see a different side of Dana style of writing. I am use to fast pace action that comes with her books. This is more of a slow burn that grabs your attention and holds it. There is no one like Dana that can spin a story and keep you guessing until the end. Dana will keep your attention with her humorous scenes that will keep you spell bound until the end trying to guess who done it. Just when you think you have it worked out you find you do not. A high 5 with a 5 star for author Dana Marton and her book “Broslin Bride”. Luanne and Chase had a thing in high school which didn’t turn out to well, both were young and maybe a little dumb. Chase was Luanne first and she was his second let’s just say that night didn’t turn out to well. Luanne told her best friend who told the world as a lover Chase was very lacking. It took Chase years to live down the rumors that is was less than adequate between the sheets along with many years of ribbing from his friends. Luanne was horrified that everyone knew and couldn’t look Chase in the face. They spent many years avoiding each other, that is until Earl Luanne’s boss turns up dead. That isn’t a bad thing in my book, he was a sleazebag, lecherous bastard that all his employees prayed for lightning to strike his sorry butt. Chase is the town cop who is sent to investigate the murder, low and behold who is right in the middle of it, but Luanne the one who cut his manhood in two a decade ago. He is there to do his job not let the past come into it. Still he sure does think she is pretty, he sure would like to redo the past and take away the bad memory of their one night together. He sure hopes she isn’t the murder but she no alibi, no memory of the night, and she had motive, along with the front of her car is busted up it sure isn’t looking to good for her. Luanne can’t believe she is in the mess she is in, all she wants to do is raise her twin sister and get on with life. She sure doesn’t want the cops looking to close at her car or have her past in her face. When Chase comes to question her she is sure he will lock her up and throw away the key because of the rumor her friend started back in high school that she said as a lover Chase was very lacking. He sure isn’t going to forget that little things. She is horrified that she could have, might have killed Earl but she is more horrified that she will lose her twins sister and they will have to go into foster care. They are all she has as she is all they have, she must not lose them and will do anything to keep from it, even a lie if that is what it takes. She so wishes she could remember the night in question, it is hard for her to believe she is a killer. Just when I thought I know who had did it, I had to rethink it, wow that was way too easy. Then I had to rethink the way Dana thinks and found I had ZERO. At one point, just for a second I thought well that person could be the killer, then I thought wow that is silly just couldn’t be, this person has no motive. Boy was I wrong….Dana has a way with words and details that keep her stories interesting, while keeping you guessing until the end. I have said it before, I would so love to be in this author head, it would take months to see what all she has going on in that wonderful brain of hers. Dana is one of those authors you just see her name and know you must have the book. You know it is going to be good, outstanding, wonderful read that will keep you hanging until the end just as Broslin Bride does. Her characters are so loveable, humorous, caring and all with a past. Chase is to die for, sexy, loving, caring, strong and the silent type with a wonderful sense of humor who is trying his best to stay single and out of his mother way, she is doing her best to hook him up. Luanne is the sweeties, shy, caring person who takes care of all and has an outstanding sense of humor. I so adored Chase’s mother who kept me laughing with her pushing Chase in to getting married with a local girl, she want lots of grandchildren and does her best to hook him up. Luanne’s long lost aunt is a sweetie who really just wants to spend her remaining years with a family to love. There are tons of wonderful people to meet in this book each having their own story and each standing behind Luanne who is just too sweet and kind to be a killer. You haven’t read a book until you have read one of Dana’s, her style in writing is outstanding, she loves to send her characters in turns and twist which make it an outstanding read, her books are easy to follow and easy to fall in love with. If you are looking for a book that will entertain you with mystery, suspense, humor and love, that has strong characters that are believable, with a few steamy passionate scenes, which will keep you hanging on to see who done it, with twist and turns of suspense this is the book for you. I highly recommend Broslin Bride (Gone and Done it) to you as being one of the best reads I have read this year.

Love this book! It is an excellent installment of the Broslin Creek Series. It has romance and danger everything you want in a light summer read!! I don't want to give the story away, just please go out and buy this book. You won't be sorry. I love the Broslin Creek series. Be sure to pick up the other books of this series if you really want some good reading. You don't need to have read the other books to read this as it is a stand alone book. However, you will really be missing out if you don't read the first 4 in this series.

No one liked Earl.  His ex-wives tolerated him because he was a good father, but those who worked under his management at the hotel couldn’t stand him.  He was a jerk, he cheated them on their wages, made advances and indecent proposals, but they tolerated him because they needed the job.  They even joked about how they would ‘off’ him if they could get away with it.  When Luanne woke up late, remembering nothing from the night before, it was to being called into work.  Earl had been killed the night before, run down by a car and covered with garbage bags, and the police wanted to talk to all of the workers.  When she notices the front end of her car is damaged, she’s sure she’s ‘gone and done it’.  But, she remembers nothing!  She doesn’t remembering leaving the bar after being stood-up, no memory of driving home, and certainly no memory of going to bed.  Had she really killed her boss?  She’d just been day-dreaming of exactly how he was killed the very day he died.   Without any other family, she absolutely cannot go to jail!  After all, what would happen to her sisters?  The twins were turning 4 the next day, and they had no one else. When she arrives at the hotel, the investigating detective is none other than Chase Merritt.  Still as charming and more handsome than ever, Chase was her ‘first’, and when she told her best friend what a lousy experience it was, Jen was quick to spread the word, giving Chase a less-than-glowing reputation with the ladies.  Minutes after she is interviewed, they go out to inspect the vehicles.  Luanne knows she’s sunk now. Chase realizes he still has strong feelings for Luanne.  He knows he must arrest her, but believes her story that she remembers nothing.  He believes she was setup.  But when Luanne has several ‘near misses’ involving vehicles running stop-signs, towers of merchandise at the store falling where she was just standing, she begins to believe someone is trying to kill her.  Panicking, she runs, and Chase is right behind her. Much shorter than the other Broslin novels, this story was originally intended to be a short story.  Per the author, Chase and Luanne had other ideas, and it became a novella.  While it’s not required to read any of the other novels in the series to follow along (and this goes for any of the books in the series), it’s nice to see them cameo. I love the level of suspense Dana Marton delivers with every work, and the romance always leaves me with a ‘warm fuzzy’ feeling.  This novella was too short to get terribly attached to the characters, so no ‘book hangover’ for me on this one.  With that said, I look forward to more books based on this small town in Pennsylvania!

I LOVE this series! The Broslin crew is back for another installment...murder, betrayal, romance...this book has it all. Chase and Luanne have chemistry that survives time.
