Overview

Getting burnt is a painful situation to go through and when you have to add being scarred not only physically but also emotionally from the experience, it only makes it worse. There is a different classification of the burns that people suffer; they are placed into categories of first, second and third degree burns to speak to the degree to which the burn has penetrated the skin as well as the tissues. The flesh can be burnt via electricity, chemicals, friction, and heat, among others.

There are ways in which to treat burns, but it is dependent on the degree of the burn that you will make the decision as to if it can be treated at home using natural remedies or if you will need to see a doctor immediately so as to avoid infection and even death as the latter is possible if the burn is not treated properly. There are also ways and means by which you can prevent the scarring of the burnt area, or to reduce the level of scarring that result from you being burnt.

There are also methods that can be used to fade the scars that you receive as a result of being burnt, albeit these scars cannot be completely removed. The way you treat your burn in the first instance of being burnt will be a big determinant of if you are scarred any at all as well as to the level of scarring that will result in the long run.

About the Author

Daniel Miller lives with the scars of the burns he sustained in a house fire as a child. Thankful to be alive, but still self conscious of his burn scars, he vowed to help others whose life has been touched by their experience with their skin being burnt. Miller is now impressed with the strides that have been made with respect to both the treatment of burns as well as with the scars that sometimes result from a person being burnt.

However, he feels strongly that having all the requisite information in one place so that people can have ready access to it is crucial, especially since many people panic and do the wrong thing after they and/or their loved ones have been burnt and doing the wrong thing cannot be reversed and often times this is what result in the permanent scars that some people have after being burnt.

Miller spends a significant amount of his time working with burnt victims who have been left with scars that are permanent; with the view to making them feel better about their situation and realize that there is in fact a life after burn scars.

This goes a far way in helping him to be a little less self-conscious about his own scars; having been using them for so long now to help others to heal emotionally and mentally from their experience of being burnt as well as being scarred for the rest of their lives. Writing this book was catharsis for him and he hopes it will help others in a big way as well.
