An invitation to Cupid's Café will change your life.

After the incident that caused Liv Morozov to drop out of college, years later she's still trying to pick up the pieces of her life. She's managed to carve out a career for herself as a photographer, but when it comes to guys? Her issues send them running for the hills, every damn time.

Zane Parata has declared himself off-limits for relationships. Between trying to maintain sobriety and the long hours he works as a chef, no one wants to deal with his brand of damage, and he wouldn't want to burden them in the first place.

When Liv shows up at Cupid's Café, she never expected to find Zane, her brother's former best friend who had vanished one day and never returned. The sparks that surged when they were both teens rekindle stronger than ever, and all too fast, Liv and Zane entangle in each other's lives, breaking their own rules. Except with both struggling with the demons from their past, the love that's begun to grow is one lapse away from shattering the two of them beyond repair.

Liv Morozov knew Zane Parata because her brother was his best friend. Before the two could explore a relationship, Zane totally vanished one day and never came back! He works as a chef now, trying to deal with his alcoholism and struggling to remain sober. Relationships now were not even a possibility because he saw himself as so broken that no one should be burdened with him. After a horrible incident caused Liv to drop out of college, she still isn’t able to pick up the pieces and move on completely. She works as a photographer, but she too is damaged and cannot find a man willing to deal with her issues. Zane and Liv received invitations to Cupid’s Café and went there to give it a try. It was a shock, however, when they saw each other. The sparks that surged when they were both teens are rekindled even stronger than before. Was this a true second chance for the two of them to find healing and get past their own brokenness? Would they be willing to try and to discover the HEA that has been waiting for them? This was a good story line with characters who were likable and had been working hard to survive the really tough knocks life gave them. The reader really wants to see them find each other and make a life for themselves. Can they do it? Can they overcome the bad and together create a good life filled with love? Grab your copy and find out what is waiting for them!

The third book in the Cupid's Cafe series a well written story. Olivia/Liv Morozov and Zane Parata's story of two people trying to overcome there pasts and get a second chance. I enjoyed reading their story, for both of them there is so much pain in the ten years they have been apart. I want to read the next book. I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.

The struggles the characters face - the hero's alcoholism and the heroine's past rape - and the challenges those issues present to their relationship, are handled well and realistically. I appreciate the heroine standing up for herself with her brother and best friend; this was one of my favorite scenes. I also really like the way their insecurities make them think the other won't want them but how all the way through Liv and Zane push back against the other's trying to disengage, and support each other unquestioningly throughout every obstacle. I normally really love second chance romances and though this one is written well I found myself a little bored as I read it. I also felt like this didn't have the aspects of the second chance trope I prefer. Their past is mentioned fleetingly throughout the book in very general terms but they had a friendship relationship in the past more than anything and their isn't any angst or jealousy or any of those unhealthy emotions I like to read about. Instead it is a healthy portrayal of real-life issues people struggle with everyday and though I do like the way this is handled and believe there is an audience for it - I'm thinking perhaps the seriousness of the issues and the real-life feel of the story in general just didn't provide the escape I look for when reading.

Captured Memories is a beautifully written, second-chance romance. There's a lot of story packed into this novella length read and I found it both captivating and compelling. Both Zane and Liv are dealing with some pretty heavy issues and while their individual stories will break your heart, the strength they find in each other will warm it. Liv and Zane's love story is both sweet and steamy. It's the story of two people who find their own inner strength as well as each being a rock for the other, but it's also the tale of two people living through and dealing with the fallout of trauma and coming through that darkness to find hope, love, and happily ever after. I have to add that I started this book at bedtime, with the intention of reading a couple of chapters before heading off to dreamland. Before I knew it, I was turning the last page because I absolutely couldn't stop reading this fascinating story. The title is perfect for this one because it certainly captivated this reader.
