About the Author

Dr. Menghe Miao is a Fibre and Textile Technology Consultant, having retired from the Commonwealth Scientific and Industrial Research Organisation (CSIRO) as a Principal Research Scientist in materials science and engineering in 2022. He was an Honorary Professorial Fellow in the Department of Mechanical Engineering at The University of Melbourne during 2019-2023. Before joining CSIRO, he was a Research Leader at the Wool Research Organisation of New Zealand (WRONZ) and taught and conducted research on yarn spinning technology at China Textile University and The Hong Kong Polytechnic University, after receiving his PhD from The University of Leeds in 1985. Dr. Miao's research and publications cover various aspects of the science and engineering of fibre-based materials, including textile manufacturing technology, product engineering, fibre-reinforced composite materials, the production and properties of carbon fibres and carbon nanotube yarns, and textile-structured sensors, actuators, and energy storage devices. He has published over 200 refereed journal papers and research reports for the textile and related industries, as well as two edited books: Engineering of High-Performance Textiles and Carbon Nanotube Fibres and Yarns. Dr. Miao established the fundamental equations of yarn twisting dynamics, which form the basis of this book.
