2. Draw a diagonal stitching line on the wrong side of each I square.
3. Referring to Figure 2a, stitch an I triangle to the top right corner of the A-G unit along the diagonal stitching line drawn on I.
4. Trim seam allowance to ¼" (Figure 2b). Press I away from G. Repeat to make 24 A-G-I units (Figure 2c).
5. Stitch an F rectangle to opposite sides of an A-G-I unit referring to Block 2 diagram; press. Repeat to make eight of Block 2.
6. Repeat steps 3 and 4 on opposite end of remaining A-G-I units to add a second I triangle to the units, making 16 units as shown in Figure 3.
7. Stitch F rectangles to opposite sides of the A-G-I units referring to Block 1 diagram; press. Repeat to make 16 of Block 1.
8. Draw diagonal stitching lines on the wrong side of each E and H square.
9. Position and stitch two H squares to opposite corners of a C square along the drawn lines (Figure 4a). Trim seam allowances to ¼" (Figure 4b) and press H away from C. Repeat to make 15 C-H squares (Figure 4c).
10. Position and stitch E squares on H corners of C-H square along lines drawn on E (Figure 5a). Trim seam allowances to ¼" (Figure 5b) and press E away from H. Repeat to make 15 of Block 3 referring to block diagram.
Completing the Quilt
1. To make pieced setting triangle, position and stitch an H square to the corner of a D triangle (Figure 6a). Trim seam allowance to ¼" (Figure 6b) and press H away from D. Repeat to make 10 D-H triangles.
2. Repeat step 1 stitching E squares to the H corners of the D-H triangles referring to Figure 7a–c to make 10 pieced setting triangles.
3. Arrange the blocks, pieced setting triangles, and D and B triangles into nine diagonal rows referring to Figure 8. Stitch rows together individually. Stitch rows together as arranged.
4. Stitch J/K strips together on the short ends and press. Subcut into two each 1½" x 68¾" J and 1½" x 48" K border strips.
5. Stitch J borders to opposite sides of quilt center and press seams toward J. Stitch K borders to top and bottom of quilt center and press seams toward K.
6. Stitch L/M strips together on the short ends and press. Subcut into two each 4½" x 70¾" L and 4½" x 56" M border strips.
7. Stitch L borders to opposite sides of quilt center and press seams toward L. Stitch M borders to top and bottom of quilt center and press seams toward M.
