Overview

At first glance, Charice looks like any other teenager: pretty, petite, and filled with non-stop energy. But when the sweet-faced 17 year old opens her mouth to sing -- with a profound, rich, and soaring 10-decibel voice from every inch of her 5-feet-1-inch body -- the audience quite literally gasps.

In 2007, a web-savvy fan began posting a series of Charice's performances on YouTube. She instantly became an internet sensation, attracting the attention of American TV shows. Appearances on the Ellen DeGeneres Show were followed by several performances on the Oprah Winfrey Show. "You are a force to be reckoned with. That voice comes from something bigger than yourself," raved Oprah.

Producer David Foster invited Charice to perform on his "David Foster and Friends" PBS Show in Las Vegas, and she went on to sing with Andrea Bocelli ("The Prayer") in Tuscany and Celine Dion at Madison Square Garden.

Charice's self-titled debut CD includes "Pyramid," featuring Iyaz, and the haunting and emotionally charged single "Note To God," produced by David Foster and written by Grammy winner Diane Warren. Charice performed "Note to God" as part of a special Oprah episode marking the finale of "Oprah's Search for the World's Smartest and Most Talented Kids." From the Label

I dare you to give her a LISTEN and I double dare you to watch her singing LISTEN, a Beyonce classic on YouTube. Why? Because she's an amazing talent with stage presence and maturity beyond her years and a compelling background story to boot. But, enough of her and more about the album itself. It goes without saying that I am a fan. Nonetheless, I will now give my very unabashed biased opinion. LOL! I like all the songs but my favorites, for now, are: 1. Nobody's Singing to Me - nice hook; you can actually catch yourself unwittingly humming this over and over again. 2. Note to God - as powerful a ballad as there ever was. Breathtaking the first time she sang this on Oprah a year ago and I am still gasping for air now! 3. In This Song - an inspirational song for me. Watch the Oprah show which aired May 11, 2010 where she launched her album and sang this song. If this song and the collage of stills and video clips behind her don't inspire you then I am sorry but you are too jaded, cynical, and are beyond redemption. 4. Reset - this shows her unique and prodigious musical talent of being comfortable in all genre including rap! Is there anybody out there in her age group or even older who sings ballads, Pop, R&B, and Rap with equal aplomb? 5. Thank You - I don't know why some are saying they don't hear her soaring vocals in this album but I hear it here and in some of the other tracts as well. 6. Nothing - just love the beat. So sue me. 7. Pyramid - this is her first pop/R&B single and she is enjoying it to the hilt. Very refreshing. 8. All that I need to survive - her voice here is very controlled, so sweet and soft, so vulnerable, so soothing. Despite the fact the she has never been in love before (I know because I and a growing army of fans follow her every move) she sounds so convincing. I am almost sure that the rest of the tracts will eventually become favorites that the entire album will be an indispensable part of my daily musical fare. Now if after purchasing this album you end up not liking it, what's thirteen dollars? However, if you get hooked like the growing number of Chasters all over the world, for less than 20 dollars, you will have YEARS of pleasure listening to this CD and watching her grow her craft right before your very eyes. If that is not a bargain, I don't know what is?

It's a rarity that someone so young could explode with such talent. She may be a small wonder but she carries a huge voice. So it's about time for someone like Charice to get the notice she so deserves. Her self titled album is a nice collection of bouncy mid tempo to bob your head to, to the life exploring ballads that allow her voice to soar above the clouds. This is truly a nicely made album.

This album is just AMAZING! Especially Pyramid and Note to God, these two songs are what touched me the most. I first saw her on South Korea's show Star King and then on Oprah. I thought she was just unbelieveable! Not does she just have an amazing voice, her voice is filled with more than enough of her emotions whenever she sings.
