About the Author

Ivy ‘Grace’ Eggleton was born into a poor, but kind and loving family in Reading, England, in 1912. One hundred years later, she celebrated her 100th birthday at Carbrook, Queensland, Australia on 25th April 2012, surrounded by her extended family, friends, and carers. 2012 was also special for her in another way, as it was to see the publication of this book of children’s stories, which she had created during World War Two for her three children. The seven stories in this book, contain themes reflecting her own attitudes to life, people, and animals. Her thoughts are to treat other people, and animals with kindness and respect. Not to be rude, greedy, or lazy. To be excited at new surroundings, but to also be aware of unexpected dangers. The stories are timeless, and can apply to the early 1940’s when they were first created, or to the present day. With her love of all creatures, great and small, she has requested that all profits from this publication be donated to various animal welfare groups, both in Australia and overseas.
