CHUM: What if your life was your dream
The book opens with Jen, Fred, and Scott watching their favorite movie Shadow Thief. Jen springs the idea of them all going to visit Veraclare-it is the planet where dead (and some living) actor's movies live on as holograms that you can touch and act alongside your favorite actors (in your favorite movies) they accept her offer and they head for the Spaceport. Yet in the back of Jen's mind is the idea of saving her favorite actor-Ben Train-from a self-induced coma. She wants to help him if it's all she ever does. But does he want to be saved at all?

Puzzling as the plot is, it's not the heart of this ride through the mire that is one actor's decision to give up on everything. This creates voyagers with different paths; just like a pair of sidewalk smoke rings dissolved by a stiff breeze. It becomes rapidly clear that everything is hurling them forward towards Ben Train-and his living burial. Why did he throw away his acting career so young? Why is he still blowing that scene day after day? And what is it with the secrecy surrounding his whereabouts?

About the Author

I am a small town boy born in Caribou and raised in Presque Isle Maine. I am the 6th of 8 children born to Edward and Martha Buckley. I was a story contributor-and primary artist-for a school newspaper that got second at nationals when I was in 5th grade. I won Presidential fitness award 6 years straight; and I tied the state record in the broad jump. After high school I was offered a record contract by Atlantic, but I became ill before any album could be recorded. I've penned dozens-51 to be exact; however Chum is probably the most spectacular. I've acted in an indie sketch comedy show (the extra weight I was carrying then did make me funnier). I've driven from Presque Isle Maine to Hollywood California twice (and back). I read too much-if there is such a thing-and have been passionately studying fiction. I'm easy in the room with you...
