Clearing The Rubbish - A Nehemiah Call To Holiness
Nehemiah, whose name means "Jehovah Comforts," was a famous cupbearer who appears in the book of Nehemiah and nowhere else in scripture. As with the books of Ezra and Esther, named after his contemporaries, the book recounts selected events of his leadership and was titled after him. The Greek Septuagint and the Latin Vulgate named this book "Second Ezra." Even though the books of Ezra and Nehemiah are separate in most English Bibles, they may have once been joined together in a single unit as currently in the Hebrew texts.
Nehemiah records the fulfillment of God's promise to restore
Israel to her land after the 70-year exile in Babylon. The warnings to Israel as a nation had been around for some time, but they came to a head in 605 BC when the prophet Jeremiah spoke to the nation.

About the Author

Dr. Clayton R. Hall Jr., DMin. is a retired but devoted Oneness Apostolic Pentecostal minister, teacher, author, and counselor who has served in ministry since 1985. He was born in Sanford, Florida, and grew up in Pontotoc, Mississippi and Portland, Oregon, where he graduated from high school. He then attended Bible college at Northwest University in Kirkland, Washington, and later earned both his Master’s and Doctorate degrees in Theology/Christian Counseling, graduating summa cum laude, from Great Commission Bible College in Carl Junction, Missouri.
Dr. Hall ministered in the Seattle area for 20 years before moving with his family to Petal, Mississippi, in 2005, where he pastored faithfully until his retirement. Originally a Trinitarian, he came to the revelation of the Oneness of God through prayerful, Holy Spirit–guided study of Scripture and the history of the early church. His studies revealed that the doctrine of the Trinity was influenced by Greek philosophy and solidified under Emperor Constantine, a polytheist whose agenda was political unity rather than biblical truth.
Although retired from active pastoral ministry due to Parkinson’s disease, Dr. Hall continues to teach the Bible online, proclaiming the apostolic message of the risen Lord Jesus Christ — the one true God manifest in flesh. He and his wife have been married for over 38 years and are blessed with three grown children and four grandchildren. His life and ministry remain a testimony of God’s sustaining grace, the power of the Holy Ghost, and the transforming revelation of Jesus’ name.
