Fresh from his last perilous adventure into space, Jack has no interest in ever going back. Why would he? Life on Earth is good for both he and Donna. But Jack and Donna's life is suddenly turned upside down when nasty alien bounty-hunters come looking for them, kidnap Jack's son and disappear into space.
Desperate to rescue his son, Jack is forced to enlist the help of Montclair, a strange elf-like alien he's not sure he can trust, but he's also the only person he knows with a spaceship they can use to pursue the kidnappers. Montclair offers to help Jack, but only after extracting a promise from him – a promise Jack has sworn to keep, but at great personal cost.
Donna insists on joining their rescue mission, and along the way discovers she has a real talent for stick handling spaceships. Together the unlikely trio set off in hot pursuit, and track the alien kidnappers across uncharted space.
