Coffee was her color is the true story of a young black female name Unique who died at the young age of 19 from HIV/AIDS. Before she contracted the disease she had met and befriended a young Army Soldier from Philadelphia name Kasreeyl Amound Perry. The two became close and fell in love. The book is written by Author Kasreeyl Amound Perry and goes in detail of how they met and how Coffee dies tragically from AIDS. The book also contains her journal that tell the story of her past and the fate of her future. As she was dying she asked her best friend Kasreeyl Amound Perry to publish her journal to help other young women to not make the same mistake she did by looking for love in all the wrong places to substitute love she never had.
Coffee grew up in a foster care and ran away after being raped by her foster parent at the age of 14 and was forced to get an abortion and been on her own ever since. She is called Coffee by Kasreeyl Amound Perry because she is black and strong. The book is a must read and a great benefit to the African American Community and any community
