Although book 6 in the series, you can read as a stand alone. In fact I think I have a couple to read to catch me up on the series, This is co founder of Redemption Harbour Consulting Leighton and Lucy’s story and what a story it is. This story brings together the whole team and although I have not read all of the previous books it does not detract from the enjoyment of reading Covert Games. Lucy is running her uncle Alexei Kuznetsov’s hotel and is horrified when she discovers that he is involved in illegal activities. Leighton is not so sure that Lucy is an innocent, but eventually comes to realize she is is and they ask for her help. Now Lucy will stop at nothing to help Leighton bring her uncle to justice. The chemistry between Leighton and Lucy smoulders to a point that they can no longer ignore it. What will happen when Alexei discovers Lucy’s involvement with Leighton and RHC? Covert Games is an extremely well written story with a great deal of action, suspense, danger, betrayal romance and passion. From chapter one Katie Reus had me engaged, I really didn’t want to put this one down as I found myself invested in what was happening to Leighton and Lucy. I loved them both individually and as a couple and I cannot wait to see what Ms.Reus has in store next for the members of Redemption Harbour Consulting.

The Redemption Harbor Consulting team finally have a way to take down their enemy Alexei Kuznetsov and all Leighton needs to do is get close to the man's daughter, Lucy Carreras. Covert Games jumps right into the action with Leighton going undercover at Lucy's hotel and casino to find and stop a human trafficking ring. He wants to believe that Lucy has nothing to do with her father's life of crime but he can't let his emotions get in the way of the mission. Since returning home from the military, Leighton has kept things close to the chest and the team is worried about his emotional well being. I really liked Leighton even though he's been a bit of a mystery throughout the series so far. Like the rest of the RHC men, he's protective, smart, and dedicated to finding justice for those who need it. I also liked how he sees Lucy for who she really is and he never doubts her. Lucy is also a great character and while she's spent most of her adulthood dedicated to her work, she's can't resist Leighton. I enjoyed how sweet and compassionate Lucy is though she's a bit naive in regards to her family. The chemistry between Lucy and Leighton is obvious from the moment they meet and I liked that it was both sexy and sweet. After a few mid rated books, I was happy to see Covert Games return to what I loved about the beginning of the series.

A Great Addition to Katie's Redemption Harbor Series! Katie Reus’ Covert Games is the latest release in her Redemption Harbor series. It is officially the sixth installment, but it works well as a stand alone read, if that is your preference. Redemption Harbor Consulting’s confounder Leighton finally gets his story told as he’s featured along with Luciana “Lucy” Carreras, the niece of RHC’s greatest adversary, Russian crime lord Alexei Kuznetsov. As this tale opens, Leighton receives intel through an old FBI friend that Kuznetsov will shortly be brought to justice by the FBI. This same friend expresses concerns about one of Kuznetsov’s female sex trafficking victims who is believed to be located in New Orleans. The FBI won’t get involved in a rescue as doing so would sabotage their planned takedown. So, she asks Leighton to rescue her. The team quickly mobilizes to find, snatch and save that one woman. But, as they receive more information, they expand their search and rescue to include as many of Kuznetsov’s unwilling victims as they can before they get caught in the crossfire. To do so, the team plans to use the current manager of The Sapphire, Kuznetsov’s hotel and casino complex in New Orleans to get inside his operation. That manager is Lucy, Kuznetsov’s niece. Left unanswered is whether Lucy is her uncle’s willing accomplice or if she’s not cognizant of his illegal and immoral activities. What Leighton doesn’t count on is being blindsided by the sparks that fly between him and Lucy. Leighton and Lucy are both wonderful characters. Leighton is lonely and surrounded by other team members who have found their own love interests. Sadly, Leighton feels that he is doomed to never find love. So, when he first meets Lucy and is instantly attracted to her, he’s very tender and sweet with her. His alpha nature quickly comes to the forefront as he vows to protect her at any cost. Unlike her uncle, Lucy has morals and is a kind, warm-hearted soul. My heart broke for her when she discovered that she’d been misled regarding her parents’ deaths. Leighton was her rock during this traumatic time. I really loved the steamy chemistry between them, and the caring, courageous natures that this couple exhibit. If I had any complaint, it would be that I’d have liked to have seen more to make them insta-like then insta-love so rapidly. But, heck, their relationship worked well with this story and I had no trouble just going with it. The whole team is involved in this mission. As a fan, it’s a treat anytime I can catch up with them - especially Skye, who was half of the couple who kicked off this series. She’s still kickass and a bit crazy, but she’s also funny, competent and has most assuredly found her perfect niche with the team. Katie is one of my favorite authors. Her books are always entertaining reads. She’s a must-read for me so as soon as I see she’s had a new release, I pick it up. Covert Games is an outstanding addition to Katie’s Redemption Harbor series. It’s teeming with romance, gripping suspense, surprising twists, fast-paced action, humor and danger at every turn! I can’t wait for the next book, Chasing Vengeance, to be released in April 2019!

Review: Another exhilarating book in this series! The action and suspense started from page one. This is Leighton's chance at a HEA. Leighton is one of the friends and co-workers who lives in Redemption Harbor. Lucy is the niece of the man they have been investigating for awhile. At times this book was very touching and heartwarming and at other times full of action and drama. They end up making a great couple with strong moral compasses. Besides they are just darn sexy together. We did get to see all the side characters from the rest of the series. The sexy times were hot and made sense for the characters and the story. Lots of action and suspense if you like that in a story. Not sure where the series is going next, since Leighton was the last single friend. I would highly recommend this if you are looking for a sexy, action-packed romance. 4Stars *I voluntarily read an advance reader copy of this book provided by the Author.*

Book 6 in the Redemption Harbor series gives us Leighton’s story and more insight into what haunts him from his past. At the request of his FBI friend, Leighton and the RHC crew take on a case to find a woman, and potentially others, being held against her will. Discovering their enemy, Kuznetsov, is connected adds even more fuel to the drive to shut down the operation. Going undercover, Leighton targets Kuznetsov’s niece Lucy, who runs the hotel where the women are believed to be held, as his entry to gaining access to the behind-the-scenes happenings. As Leighton gets to know Lucy, he finds it hard to believe she could willing be in cahoots with her uncle. Lucy is fascinated by Leighton and wants to get to know him better. Stumbling upon some strange goings-on in the hotel one night, Lucy informs her uncle thinking who assures her he’ll address the issue. However, his lack of action coupled with the things Leighton has told her, Lucy begins to believe her uncle may be on the wrong side of the law. Together Leighton and the RHC team work to bring down Kuznetsov and keep Lucy safe. The Redemption Harbor series is one of my favorites. It’s filled with action, humor, loveable characters, and lots of steamy moments. Recommended read and series.

Leighton is still struggling with what happened in Afghanistan even though he’s now in Redemption Harbor. He feels alone. His friends have all found their perfect match, but he feels that he will never be that fortunate. When his FBI friend asks for his help, he and the crew go to New Orleans to help rescue women who are being trafficked. When he goes undercover he meets Lucy, the niece of Alexei Kuznetsov, a violent and dangerous criminal kingpin. Leighton is strongly attracted to her but he needs to make sure that Lucy isn’t working for her uncle. Covert Games is an exciting and emotional story filled with memorable characters. Leighton is a powerful man who’s working to overcome the past. I fell for him. He’s a protective and caring. I knew that he would be there for Lucy. The men and women of the team are family and Leighton is one of them. I liked the snarky banter between the Redemption Harbor team. They certainly work well together. Lucy is brave and beautiful. She’s good at her job, but she won’t knowingly tolerate any criminal activity at The Sapphire. I like a feisty heroine who has the strength to stand up what she believes in. I was so happy to see characters from previous books. I like the Redemption Harbor team and their significant others. The setting is perfect and helps add drama to this story. Katie Reus has written a compelling book that kept me on the edge of my seat. I’m a fan of the Redemption Harbor series and I can’t wait for more.

Katie Reus is a “go to author” for me when I’m in the mood for an alpha protective good guy hero who will do anything for his lady love. Yeah, that includes putting his life and heart on the life, folks. To complete the package, she always throws in for free a sassy heroine worthy of such manliness. This go around we are given a criminal human trafficking backdrop that results in blood and bullets flying as these two team up with Leighton’s posse of Delta Force like mercenary buddies who try to right this terrible wrong. Overall, I did really enjoy this stand-alone, sixth edition to the series, with one minor comment regarding something I’ve seen as a repeating pattern in these books. Maybe it’s because I read early ARC versions that may or may not be edited again before final release, but I felt a time or two the smexy scenes between these two could have used some conversational tweaking. No, I didn’t say twerking, because that would definitely be weird. The first graphic intimate encounter in particular just felt..off. Honestly, it was because the conversation felt awkward and unnatural. You just wouldn’t blurt out what Leighton said as casually as if he just asked Lucy to pass him the salt. Instead of finding it shockingly sexy, it was a “say what?” moment. I actually reread some of my other reviews of the previous books and found I had made similar comments. I guess you could say I expect my characters to always stay in character. With these guys that means cool and classy all the time. All that aside, because it may not even register on other people’s radar, I did stay completely riveted to the unfolding, perilous plot and didn’t really mind the romance time being shared with the crime stopping element. Afterall, these two lovebirds were in this together, folks. Title: Covert Games, Series: Redemption Harbor (Book 6), Author: Katie Reus, Pages: 300, stand-alone but part of a series, alpha protective good guy hero, romance safe, human trafficking of women, some violence/shoot ‘em up scenes. Another awesome installment in this series. Filled with action and suspense with plenty of steamy goodness and some romance to round it all out. I loved Lucy and her desire to help in what she believes to be a case of sexual trafficking. She grew up a bit broken but still taken care of. When Leighton enters her life she is attracted to him but knows it can’t be more than a temporary thing. Unfortunately, she learns some disturbing news and her world as she has always known it implodes. Leighton is struggling with memories from his time in the Marines. His work has him crossing paths with Lucy and he’s unsure where she stands within her uncle’s organization. There are clues along the way but when he finally meets her and can sense her desire to help a woman in need he realizes that she’s an innocent among the wolves. This has a few triggers you might want to check out if something bothers you. It’s a fast read with a good look at all the characters we’ve met along the way, although I believe it can be read as a standalone. The steam is intense and the chemistry between the hero and heroine, while not the center of the story, was still believable. However, I would’ve liked to seen them as a couple more. The case they are working on was well developed and I enjoyed watching everything unfold in both that and between Leighton and Lucy. This ends with a sweet epilogue and a deleted scene that I appreciated having access to as it definitely shows a bit more of Leighton and what he has faced in the past. Overall, while not my favorite of the series, it was still a very good read.

Another high suspense read from this author. I love this series, and this book reminds me why. We get action, suspense, and Oh so hot romance. The team is yet again dealing with something involving Alexei Kuznetsov and this time it's Leighton who takes this case for his friend Hazel. All is going well until Leighton sees Lucy. Now all bets are off the table, and it's a game of catch and control before he loses her to her crazy, sick, twisted Uncle. A fantastic book in this series.

Great Read!! This book brings the Redemption Harbor team full circle with a case that involves some past dealings. This is Leighton's story and we finally learn more about the broody former marine. Our heroine, Lucy, is someone you're rooting for pretty much from the beginning of the book. She definitely comes into her own, by the end this story. Worth the read. ARC provided for honest review.

A sensational new Redemption Harbor novel that readers can really sink their teeth into. As the niece of Redemption Harbor Consulting’s greatest enemy, she was supposed to be the means to an end but Leighton didn’t count on her making his blood boil and making him want things that he doesn’t deserve with someone he can’t have. Leighton and Lucy are two very strong, compelling characters that grab hold and refuse to let go as the suspense and tension build throughout the story. The chemistry is electrical and there is no denying the magnetic attraction between this couple but there are lots obstacles hindering this romance, so this relationship is one that defies the odds and brings the empathy out in readers as they hope that Leighton and Lucy can overcome those obstacles and achieve a happily ever after. The fast paced and smooth flowing plot holds readers in thrall from beginning to end with lots of thrilling suspense and sense of expectation and danger. The suspense builds as Lucy begins to learn just how evil her Uncle is and she joins forces with Leighton and the team to take Alexei down but the closer they get the more deadly the storm hurtling toward them becomes. There was no way that I could put this story down once I started reading it, the characters are engaging and the story is one suspenseful event after the other.

This is book 6 in the Redemption Harbor series and you absolutely must read the previous books before this one as they lead up to this one. It is about Leighton Cannon and Lucy Carreras. Leighton has been asked by his friend in the FBI to find a woman that has been taken as a debt to Alexei Kuznetsov, their greatest enemy. He knows what may be happening to this young woman right now and brings in the whole team in order to not only try to find her but to finally bring Alexei down. And when he finds out that his niece is the manager of one of the hotels they are watching, he decides that is his in especially if she is aware and a part of what her uncle does. Lucy was raised by her uncle after a tragedy took her parents. She is loyal to him even knowing that he isn't the most loving person in her life. He took care of her and she feels she owes him for that. So much so that she goes to work for him after college as a manager for one of his hotels. But she notices some things that make her look into some of the employees and draws her into a world she didn't know anything about. And when she meets and falls for Leighton, things come to a head and her whole world implodes. Now she has to decide how to handle the things she has found out and whether Leighton is the person she really thought he was. I have been wanting to know the back story for Leighton for quite a while and this book definitely did not disappoint! Not only is her what you would expect a marine to be but he has a bad boy side to him that I wasn't really expecting! But then he also showed that yes, he has things that he is still trying to work through from his time in the military but he isn't letting it destroy his whole life like it could have. Lucy was a character that I felt for, especially when she found out the true tragedy of what happened to her parents. That broke my heart for her. And when she finds out exactly what he uncle does and has done in the past? Even more heart breaking for her. These two together though are perfect for each in other in not only their chemistry together but in their personal beliefs. I loved it!

Romantic Suspense at it's best. Katie gives us Leighton's story and we learn of the ghosts that haunt him, the friendship with Hazel Blake and love that blindsides him. Oh I just love Katie's stories full of twists and turns and what happens next. The Redemption Harbor crew and the FBI are closing in on international bad guy Alexei Kuznetsov who runs drugs, guns & sex. They've tried to keep a low profile to help Brookes and his Dad off Kuznetsov's radar. Even so they are determined to help nail his coffin. Hazel comes to ask Leighton to help her grandma's neighbor as a favor off-the-books. The neighbor's daughter, Maria Lopez, is now working off his debt "on her back" in one of Kuznetsov's New Orleans hotels, the one managed by his niece, Lucy Carreras. The question is does Lucy know her uncle is in the "flesh trade" within her hotel? Leighton goes undercover as a high roller to try to free Maria Lopez and the rest of the girls. He figures out early on that Lucy has no idea that her uncle is a bad guy and what he's doing in her hotel. This is one of my favorite of the Redemption Harbor stories because both Leighton and Lucy are really intelligent. Lucy notices everything and digs when she think something is wrong. Her uncle, who provided for her after her parents died, is not who she thought he was but it's hard for her to accept. She is such a responsible do-the-right-thing kind of heroine. I was already sold on Leighton so this was a win-win story for me. Katie gave us lots of action, surprises and twists and turns. My favorite kind of tale. Thank you Katie for the opportunity to review this for you.

COVERT GAMES (REDEMPTION HARBOR SERIES) BOOK #6 By Katie Reus This is another great read in the Redemption Harbor Series. I personally think this series is one of the best that Katie Reus writes. I very much enjoyed it and read it pretty much in one setting. This is the story of Leighton Cannon and Luciana Carreras. Lucy is the niece of Alexei Kuznetsov, who happens to be one of the enemies of the consulting group. Leighton, after being asked by his friend to help, is undercover working to discover where some young girls are disappearing to. He is determined to discover Lucy's role in her uncles crimes. She is the manager of one of his upscale hotels. The sparks fly immediately and the chemistry between these two is hot! Katie can always be depended on for an entertaining read that is a well developed story and with characters that you care about.

An interesting and engaging storyline… This is the sixth book in the Redemption Harbor series that can be read as a stand-alone. Hotel/casino manager Luciana Carreras is the niece of a dangerous wealthy man with many criminal enterprises she is totally unaware of. Her uncle raised her after the murder/suicide of her parents when she was thirteen. She is close to his fourteen-year-old daughter who is away at boarding school. Though her uncle is not the most loving affectionate of men he did right by her and has her loyalty which is why she chose to work for him after graduating from college. Being a capable, efficient manager she notices activities leading her to believe women are being used for sex against their will by company employees. Informing her uncle of her suspicions she trusts him to deal with the situation unknowingly setting off events that place her in jeopardy, more so when a sexy hotel patron with a hidden agenda takes an interest in her. Having been a marine for twelve years who’d seen too much and after one mission that still years later affects him, Leighton Cannon joined the civilian ranks and his friends in a covert consulting company. As a personal favor to an FBI contact’s grandmother, Redemption Harbor Consulting is asked to search for a woman’s daughter who’d been sold into sex slavery to pay off a parental debt and there may be more women needing saving. The mission connects to a deadly enemy the team has gone up against before, Alexei Kuznetsov. Being the lone single member of the team, Leighton goes undercover as a high-roller at the Russian owned hotel/casino in New Orleans to locate the missing woman. The hotel manager is their enemy’s niece and possibly in collusion with her uncle. Leighton didn’t expect the niece to be innocent but learning that she really is he’ll protect her as he is unexpectedly attracted to her. This book had an interesting and engaging storyline for the Redemption Harbor team who were all in for this mission against an enemy they’ve been dying to finally takedown. The main protagonists weren’t as likable/relatable as the prior couples in this series. I didn’t like how their relationship developed, it felt forced, too quick, with a lack of emotional depth to the characters themselves and in the connection supposedly between them, perhaps because of the fast pace of the plot and the heroine had too many TSTL moments for this reader to abide though she did show some guts. An advanced reading copy was obtained from the author.

Covert Games is Leighton and Lucy's story and my favorite out of the series. I love that the whole team was involved with this latest mission involving sex trafficking and a former enemy they have been keeping an eye on. Leighton has always been intriguing to me. He has always felt like he was struggling with things from his past and just wasn't truly happy. The way he reacts to Lucy and then how he treats her, it made me melt for him more. I love that despite how much he struggled with his past, he never let that get in his way of falling for Lucy and how proactive he was of her. Lucy was such a strong character. My heart broke for her when I learned about her parents. She was a heroine I could like and agreed with how she handled things. She was perfect for Leighton and I loved them together. Since the whole team was involved in Leighton and Lucy's story, we got to see more of how awesome Skye is. That woman is funny and a true warrior.

COVERT GAMES is the sixth instalment in Katie Reus’ contemporary, adult REDEMPTON HARBOR romantic, suspense series focusing on the men and women who work for Redemption Harbor Consulting. This is former US Marine and RHC cofounder Leighton Cannon, and hotel manager Lucy Carreras’ story line. COVERT GAMES can be read as a stand alone without any difficulty. Any important information from the previous story lines is revealed where necessary. Told from several third person perspectives including Lucy and Leighton COVERT GAMES follows Leighton Cannon as he goes undercover in New Orleans to ferret information on drug runner and human trafficker Alexei Kuznetsov, an undercover operation that places Leighton in a position with Alexei’s niece Lucy Carreras. Lucy is unaware of her uncle’s businesses on the side, businesses that place our heroine in the direct line of fire but falling for undercover operative Leighton Cannon meant turning against the family she once loved, family that is about to destroy any semblance of peace and happiness for a very long time. What ensues is the building relationship and romance between Leighton and Lucy, and the potential fall-out as Lucy’s uncle discovers that his niece has been up to no good. Lucy Carreras is an innocent in the world illegal gambling, prostitution and back room machinations but once the truth has been revealed our heroine is the first to volunteer to take down the man she once loved and adored. Leighton Cannon is determined to protect the woman with whom he is falling in love, a woman who is willing to place herself in danger with no espionage experience or undercover training. The insta-lust relationship between Leighton and Lucy is one of immediate attraction but our hero must play a role in order to gain Lucy’s trust before revealing the truth. Lucy is quick to accept everything Leighton, and the agents at Redemption Harbor reveal, acceptance that goes a long way in helping the team take down an illegal human trafficking ring. The $ex scenes are intimate and passionate without the use of over the top, sexually graphic language and text. Most of the previous story line couples play secondary and supporting characters as the RDC Team executive a plan to destroy Lucy’s uncle: Colt Stuart and Skye Arevalo (Resurrection #1), Zac Savage (Savage rising #2), Brooks Alexander and Darcy Cooper (Dangerous Witness #3 ), Axel and Hadley (Innocent Target #4), Nova Blaire and Gage Yates (Hunter Danger #5), as well as FBI agent Hazel Blake. We are introduced to Lucy’s uncle Alexei Kuznetsov, his right hand man Marco Broussard, and Alexei’s fourteen year old daughter Liliana The world building continues to focus on the Redemption Harbor Consulting firm as they go undercover with their private investigations to take down the baddest of the bad. COVERT GAMES is a story of family, friendships, betrayal and lies. The premise is intriguing and entertaining; the characters are colorful, dynamic and sassy; the romance is captivating and intense. Another great addition to Katie Reus’ Redemption Harbor Consulting .

Leighton (co-founder of RHC and haunted by his last mission is set on getting Alexei and stopping his evil empire and freeing women who are being trafficked ) Lucy ( niece of Alexei...managing one of his hotel/casinos ...is she in as deep as Alexei or is she innocent?) It is great to touch base with all the old crew and the action never stops..Plenty of laughter, tears, scary action, intrigue and steamy sex all leading to a very HEA. Reasons I enjoyed this book: Action-packed Steamy Entertaining Romantic Great world building Page-turner Unpredictable Happily Ever After Easy-to-read Wonderful characters Funny Scary
