Craig the Inquisitive Crab: Craig and the Ice Cream
Craig is a young and inquisitive crab whose fascination with the world around him gets him into situations which make him feel momentarily frightened but from which he always escapes. The obvious parallel between the young crab and the young read-to child enables the child to recognise the dangers and fun of risk-taking and creates empathy with the character. Craigs days always end with him safely tucked up in his own bed, surrounded by the warmth and care of his family. The question which hangs in the air, though, is whatever will he get up to next time? Colourful illustrations keep the childs attention and enhance the understanding of the story as it is being read to him or her. This pleasurable aural and visual experience forms a sure foundation upon which the building of reading skills can progress.

About the Author

Peter is a grandfather who started to make up bedtime stories about the adventures of a small crab for his grandson, Ben, and was later encouraged to write them down and present them as individual books. The stories developed from there, and Ben and Craig have enjoyed many adventures since. The stories have also been told to Lottie, Albie, Sophie, Lucy and Mia, and many other young children. This is the first of many stories of the adventures of Craig the Crab. When the stories started to take a book form, Len, the authors brother-in-law and granddad to Sophie, Lucy and Mia began to draw the illustrations for Craigs adventures.
