About the Author

Jess Pillmore is a national director/choreographer, recording singer-songwriter, published writer and co-founder of the revolutionary arts education company, Creatively Independent. She has spent the past fifteen years exploring the common threads within the performing arts that link humanity together. Those fundamental threads make it possible for her company to teach and create cutting-edge works with artists of all ages and skill levels since 2001.

Jess's artistic explorations include three nationally released folk rock albums, a short collaborative film with HitRECord screened at Sundance Festival 2012, an upcycled knitwear line, A Second Chance, featured in national magazines and a folk rock musical "It's All Right Now". Currently, she is co-writing "Shakespeare's Ensemble", arts education blurring the lines of actor/director and student/teacher to create dynamic theatre.

As a life-long learner, Jess has had the honor of studying with cutting-edge artists in their field: Seth Godin, Kathleen Marshall, Susan Schulman, Gregory Hines, Kira Obolensky and Devora Neumark.

She has degrees from Goddard College (MFA Interdisciplinary Arts '14 expected) and Florida State University (BA Theatre '97).
