Heard about this story from another author and had to give it a read. Wow, am I ever glad he recommended it. Great story by an even greater writer. If you love a good story, with an incredible twist in how it is told, you must read this story. I have just found a new best author!

This is an outstanding short story which is very well written by a terrific author. I've read some of her other works and have enjoyed them all... five stars, easy!

I found this to be an outstanding story and very well written. I like unusual stories, and this one is just that. I cannot fathom why anyone would give low ratings, unless like some others have said, they are either jealous, or simply bullies. Great story, highly recommend.

Crimson Rain by Vanessa Finaughty The book is only 40 minutes to read, I love quality short stories like this. This is an exceptional vampire story. Generally speaking you may find vampire tales boring, vampires in space, vampire westerns or vampire bankers attacking wall street, Yawn, Yawn, I know how you feel. But this book is different, The Crimson Rain is human blood which is catalytic. That is to say, when it hits human flesh it changes you into a vampire. The first blood transfusion from the red clouds turns you into a vampire and the second infusion reverts you back to being human. The question for our Vampire prince in the book is… do other vampires want to revert back to being human? Should he deceive his fellow vampires including his lover also a vamp and take away their free choice? The book gets interesting as Mother nature is invoked as the agency sending the blood rain in the first place, like God in the Bible who "sets man up to fail".. With the… don't eat that apple scam, a scam because predictably curiosity.. plus free will.. plus time and chance, make it inevitable that curious man will eat that apple. Ultimately one day I predict man will even end up making a hydrogen bomb. Can we avoid a massive global war that will render man extinct? The Crimson Rain threatens the vampires? In the same way a nuclear weapon or killer viruses may threaten us now. So the vampire having suffered 300 years.. He sees like Adam, sees and has tasted (literally) blood, horror, brutality, hunger and pain. The Crimson Rain, like the magical apple in the garden of Eden turns men into a beasts. But unlike the one way street of the apple there is a way back with the this rain. Meanwhile back at the ranch… Mother nature is the agent of the vampires infection with evil, and the one delivering the vampires from being trapped in fallen flesh. Pay attention there at the back.. The Crimson Rain will bring about a dinosaur style mass extinction. Maybe it was a Crimson Rain that killed off the dinosaurs 60 million years ago ?.. OK pull yourselves together that’s ridculous..we know for a fact (but I can't prove it) that Aliens nicked our dinosaurs and now Aliens keep Earth's dinosaurs in zoos all over the universe. Today man is base and vulgar (well I am at least) sick of beer, lose women, drugs, fast cars, films, books, sport, five star hotels expensive holidays...hang on...hang on. wait a minute what am I saying? Maybe I don't want to eat that second apple or stand under the second rain after all. Erm.. the dilemma.. read the book it explores this dilemma brilliantly. Stay like this and it's a wipe-out war and extinction.. Or walk outside and stand in the crimson rain of redemption. Could you really go back to being naive and living in a walled garden? That is the question.. It's what the snake asked Eve.. That is the question…the vampire's dilemma., but the Rain is not a retrograde step back into ignorance and bliss, but an elevation into a higher plane of enlightenment and bliss. Then the ending.. it is sensational. You will have to read the book. This is a brilliant short story (like all good things in life) it's FREE on smashwords and Barns & Noble. The review was of the smashwords edition. (think this book would make a good radio and stage play) Paul Kendall Leeds (Yorkshire) UK

I find stories on Vampires great reads, providing they are well written. This short story is not only well written, it is no less than brilliant! An author friend of mine suggested I read this story and I’m sure glad I did. There is no excuse whatsoever for giving this story anything other than four or five stars... none! I have recommended this story to several others. Give it a read, you’ll love it!

Now this is the way to write a story! Written from a wonderful point of view, filled with emotions from someone you wouldn’t expect to feel sorry for. Loved this story, and I’ve read many hundreds over the years. I would highly recommend this story to anyone. It is not a long story, so great for a quick read with an amazing twist. Can’t believe anyone would give a poor review unless they were illiterate or jealous.

I loved this story! Wow, told from a point of view I had not thought of. I had to laugh at the low ratings for this story. Obviously, those were from people who cannot think, or other authors trying to prevent people from reading really good writing. Well, let me tell you, it won’t work. This is a wonderful story and people will see right through why anything other than four or five stars are given.

This is a great story told from an unusual viewpoint. I like stories that are unusual and raise many emotions while reading. With this short story, you feel the weight of the decision which must be made to save us all. Very well done! If you have not read her other stories, I would like to suggest you read "Legends of Origin – 1 Sanctuary for the Devil," which is nothing less than a FIVE STAR story! Glenn.

This ranks as one of the best short stories I have ever read. In fact, I have read it more than once. :) Incredibly unique and haunting. Written with great skill. If you believe you have read everything out there and can't be impressed or surprised by a vampire story, give Crimson Rain a read.

I would have loved to have seen this written into a full novel instead of like a journal entry into the mind of the main character, who tells you like you would a journal what all is going on. Almost like an interview of a vampire just written. This takes about 15 minutes to read, but it gets you thinking of the possibilities that could make for a wonderful novel.

I thought the book was fair. It was very short. It would of been a good book if the author would of made it longer.
