About the Author

Leanne Katzenellenbogen, a Johannesburg-based dietician registered with the Gauteng-based Centre for Diabetes and Endocrinology, has experience in both the public health service and the private sector, where her practice comprises about 75 per cent diabetic clients. Leanne studied at the University of the Witwatersrand and undertook postgraduate studies at Wits and UCT. She holds a master’s degree in Human Nutrition from Stellenbosch University (where her thesis dealt with the impact of diabetes on quality of life). She has two small children and a husband who is a diabetic (with a very sweet tooth, although he won’t admit it!).
