Not unlike my first introduction to Sara in the Inside Out series, my first impressions of Ella were a bit mixed, and it took me a while to find her voice intriguing. Everything to make a compelling character is there: amnesia from a head injury when mugged, rescued by a handsome stranger who is convinced she is in mortal peril, and the slow burn between them as she reacts instinctively to his aura. But as Ella slowly realizes who she is, and bits of her story start to reveal themselves, her personality takes a more solid form and her underlying strength and determination start to shine through. There’s a curious mix of ballsy, go for it fighter mentality somewhere in there, often overshadowed behind her inability to pull her own history from the recesses of her mind and the concerns that something she isn’t remembering could cause danger for those who have ‘rescued’ her. Kayden’s rescue of Ella, combined with his own deep-rooted need to control and protect as best he can make him quite a conundrum. While he pushes and pulls at her to remember, he also has made a life, a name, an identity for Ella, giving her protection from those who would do her harm. Or is he? Kayden is one of those perfectly imperfect characters: his moral compass is ambiguous, his personal relationships are either volatile or non-existent, his role as “boss” mean he’s in control and calling the shots, able to overrule choices and approaches. What works best is the instinctive reactions that Ella has to Kayden, that déjà vu feeling that she has, and the way she is able to give Kayden the reassurances that he so desperately needs. There are backstories galore from these two, yet to be revealed as pieces and bits come to light. And the trust, even with no real reason to give it fully is growing…until Ella finds that Kayden is hiding a major clue to who she really is from her. Although the story ends with a HUGE *gasp* moment that has thrown Ella into a major tailspin with Kayden facing the wrong end of a gun, my investment in the mystery that is Ella is fully engaged. I need to know what comes next- and just how much Kayden knows, who is the one who beat her and tried to kill her, and just why Kayden and Adriel were there when she was attacked. I received a copy of the title from the publisher via NetGalley for purpose of honest review. I was not compensated for this review: all conclusions are my own responsibility.

In this spinoff from the Lisa Renee Jones Inside Out series, we finally find out what happened to Sara’s best friend, Ella, who has been missing for most of that story line. Ella wakes up in Rome in a hospital bed with a nasty concussion with no idea about her identity, or who the sexy stranger looking at her might be. Ella soon comes to depend on Kayden to protect her while she struggles to recover her memory. She is drawn to him in inexplicable ways, and despite knowing very little about Kayden, Ella becomes quickly immersed in his life of high stakes intrigue and peril. As Ella slowly recovers pieces of her life, she grows deeply involved with this gorgeous, rich, and powerful man who has hidden secrets of his own. Ella and Kayden remind me a lot of Sara and Chris and their tumultuous relationship. It’s not surprising since Sara and Ella are best friends with similar personalities. And Kayden has a lot of concealed pain as Chris did, having survived tragedies that were a result of the dark and dangerous world he was raised in and continues to be a part of as an adult. Since Ella knows so little about herself, she relies on Kayden to help her figure out what happened to her. She has an instinctive attraction to him, and their relationship heats up quickly. They seem to be two lost souls who have found a home in each other. This first book in the Careless Whispers series is pretty much nonstop drama and high tension which is not surprising given the premise of Ella being on the run from another very dangerous, possessive man. Fans of the Inside Out series will enjoy Ella’s story, but it does end on a cliffhanger which is never one of my

I loved and thoroughly enjoyed reading the outstanding and suspenseful, captivating and engaging romantic novel written by the phenomenal writer, Lisa Renee Jones. I received a copy of the story from NetGalley for an honest review. Ella wakes up in a hospital bed in Italy with no memory and sees a beautiful man, Kayden. Kayden tells her he rescued her and is going to take care of her until she gets her memory back. She remembers running from someone and then sees Kayden talking to one of the men chasing her and takes off. Kayden catches up to her and explains that the man is someone that works for him and had helped saved her from the men that were after her. Ella remembers her first name and bits and pieces of her memory come hauntingly back. As Kayden keeps reassuring her that her memory will come back, both of them feel a connection and an attraction for each other. Read the highly recommended, must read, wonderfully written story of love, sex, violence, and intrigue. Can't wait to read Demand (Careless Whispers #2)!

This book started great but dragged. So much on and on for no reason. The sex and over the top random devotion was weird. Both characters were immature and lacked redeeming qualities to connect to readers. A 30+ man and a 25 year old woman fall in love after a couple days and deep stares. It was twilight minus vampires and add amnesia and Italy. By the 7th chapter I just wanted it to be over. Stop adding new characters and new drama and leave barely any resolution to the issues of the main characters. Then it ends without an ending. Nearly 260 pages of nothing. This is my first and last read by this author.

Ella wakes up in a hospital, in Italy, with amnesia. Sitting next to her bed is a handsome stranger who claims to have found her beaten in an alley. Ella doesn’t have her passport or any ID, and can’t remember her name or where she is from. The stranger, Kayden Wilkens, is determined to offer her protection until her memory returns. With no other choice she accepts his offer. Well, really, he gives her no choice. Ella spends the rest of this novel discovering things about Kayden that draw her to him, but also scares her. She also remembers bits and pieces of her own past, but not enough to give her a full picture of her life or what had happened to her.. Some of what Ella remembers is that she was briefly “under the protection” of another man and she was afraid of him. Kayden, although mysterious, powerful, and dangerous, is not a danger to her, but I kept wondering when she was going to start relying on herself instead of just finding a man to get her out of trouble. Every piece of her identity that was revealed made her look like a victim, and I’ll admit, those are my least favorite kinds of romances to read. I like a strong female protagonist, and Ella was just not that girl. In the midst of learning bits of her mysterious past, she and Kayden start to have a relationship, and to me, it felt very fabricated. Part of that may have been my dislike of her victimization, but I wasn’t that keen on Kayden’s character either. He was too alpha, and other than his good lucks and loads of money, I didn’t see too many things to like. He also wouldn’t reveal anything about himself and you got the feeling that he might be playing her, which didn’t endear him to me. This book was the first in the series, and definitely left the reader hanging and the little I had learned about Ella and Kayden didn’t make me want to learn anything else. However, reading is subjective, so if you are a fan of this author you may want to check out this series. I however, will end my exploration of these two characters and stay in Denial. ❤❤❣

Amazing start to a new series, I was hooked from beginning to end. Ella has lost her memory and is trying to put the pieces of her life back together. The biggest mystery is who is next to her bed when she wakes up, can she really trust Kayden? Great read, the story is fast paced and drama filled. Loved it!

Denial, book one in the Careless Whispers series takes off with a flying start. Kayden is the leader of Underground, a highly skilled and dangerous organisation. He has enough money to last him more than a lifetime. He excels at his job and takes good care of those who works for him. He has been through some dark times with the loss of loved ones and would rather put himself on the line than exposing some of the others to danger. Ella eloped to Italy and instead of being married, she wakes up in a hospital with no recollections of who she is. She has Amnesia! She realises that she is completely destitute. Kayden is by her side and she is mesmerised by his blue eyes. She has a sense of familiarity even though they are complete strangers to each other! She has no choice but to rely on him for the time being, since without her memories she is at a complete loss. Gallo is a detective who shows the good intentions of finding Ella's identity to help her but as he is Kayden's mortal enemy, he warns her against him. Ella comes to the realisation that she might be in danger and puts herself in Kayden's hands to keep her safe. A difficult decision but it will do for now, at least until she regains her memory. They both have trust issues for different reasons and try hard to fight the obvious attraction between them. Ella is settling in Kayden's Castle and no longer able to fight this strong pull between them, they have some passionate and erotic moments. It's more than that though! Ella's memories start to trickle in and each one raises more and more questions. Most of these are disturbing but Kayden is beside her for support. They are at ease with each other and for the first time in ages, Kayden starts to open up but then Ella finds something to make her doubt what she has started to believe in. Back to square one and here comes the cliffhanger! This dark erotic novel is full of suspense, mystery and romance. I like the writing style and the addictive storyline. I look forward to reading the next instalment. I was kindly issued with an eARC by the publisher via NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.

Let me start by saying romantic suspense is a guilty pleasure!!! These books are perfect mix of both. I am officially addicted to this series. Plus, I have found a new author…and who doesn’t love to do that!!! Kayden is a definite “sex on a stick”! Ella is a strong female lead to his immense masculinity. What a splendid couple. As I always say…they heat up the pages nicely. So nicely in fact, it is hard to quit thinking about them and where their story is leading. Kayden rescues Ella late one evening when he discovers her injured on the streets. Ella has no recollection of who she is or how she got there. As she is trying to recover her memory many flashbacks occur. These are as confusing and they are helpful. Is she part of the Italian mafia, is she an enemy of Kayden, has she been a victim of so trafficking? These are just a few of the many things she could be. I am NOT waiting patiently for the next in this series. I need to know who Ella is and did she know Kayden before he found her. Just an FYI, do not read Demand without reading Denial first. Demand is really not a stand alone read. It is a continuation of the story in Denial. And what a great story it is. I cannot wait for Ella to get her memory back. I received these novels from Simon and Schuster as part of XOXperts

Denial is book one in the Careless Whispers series which is a spin off series to the Inside Out series. You do not have to read the Inside Out series to understand this book. The book opens with a woman in the hospital not sure who she is or where she is. There's a handsome man there with her, but she can't remember anything. The man tells her that he found her in an alleyway after she had been attacked and she wound up getting amnesia from her injuries. The man that is refusing to leave her side in the hospital is Kayden, an uber wealthy guy with a lot of underground connections. I have a weak spot for the bad boys in books, so Kayden was a quick favorite of mine. During her hospital stay, she regains a few memories and we find out her name is Ella and that someone bad is targeting her. When I mean bad, I mean bad, we're talking the Italian mafia here. But with Kayden by her side, she feels as safe as she can be in her situation and tries to regain her memories as fast as possible. Pretty much the entire book Ella is not sure who to trust, and flashes of memories show a possessive man that was dangerous in her life before her accident. We're not sure who this guy is and the book doesn't wrap it up so that should continue into the next book. I could see Kayden being possessive from the start, though she does know it's not him. I still had moments questioning if she should trust him and his underground friends. We don't really get a lot of answers in this installment, and I hope there are a few answers in book two. I'm not a huge fan of suspense type reads, but Lisa Renee Jones seems to write it in a style I enjoy. The naughty scenes between Ella and Kayden probably helped a bit too. I've read a few books in the previous series so knew I had to grab this one when I saw it. As I mentioned, you're left with more questions than answers, but this was a pretty solid romantic suspense read that is leading up for more books in the series. It's enough to grab your attention and intrigue and make you grab the next one. If you're a fan of romantic suspense, I think you'd enjoy this new series.

This book was everything I expected and more. Lisa Renee Jones is a master at romantic suspense! Just when you think you know who's telling the truth, something happens that changes things enough to make you doubt yourself. Ella is mugged and wakes up in a hospital in Italy, with no memories of all. Complete amnesia! Who does she trust? Is it the handsome stranger, Kayden, that found her in the alley and is taking care of her? Is it the police detective who is more interested in giving Kayden a hard time? Ella is ending up with way more questions than answers. This is definitely a must read for anyone who loves an excellent romantic suspense story. This book ended with an awesome cliffhanger and I'm on pins and needles waiting for the next book in the Careless Whispers series, Demand. Received a copy via NetGalley in exchange for an honest review. I was not compensated for my review. I was not required to write a positive review. The opinion expressed is my own.

Title: Denial Author: Lisa Renee Jones Genre: Romantic Suspense Format: Ebook Pages: 321 Rating: 5 Heat: 5 Main Characters: Ella & Kayden Thoughts: Ella wakes up in a hospital with no memory of how she got there or who she is. The only reason the reader knows her full name is because the blurb tells us. She does end up remembering her first name but not her last, so this is the only thing we know about her that she does not (unless you've read the Inside Out series which I have not yet). The story is told from Ella's point of view so we know as much as she does (other than her name of course). This story has everything I love, suspense, mystery and some romance. It takes off with a bang and carries you on a roller-coaster ride that leaves you panting and screaming for more. So yes, it's a doozy of a cliffhanger with a whammy of a hangover. But it is SO worth it! Kayden is a wildcard, he's the one protecting her and trying to help her figure out who she is. Problem, he seem familiar and that would've raised some red flags for me but having a hot guy demanding to protect you can cause thoughts to be forgotten. I do love the fact that Ella isn't just some damsel in distress though, she is tough and smart with just enough vulnerability to make her believable as a character. All I can really say is this...GIMME THE NEXT BOOK!!!! Please note that I received a complimentary copy of this work in exchange for an honest review.

Begging for More! Ella Ferguson wakes up in Italy without any memory of who she is or her name. Suffering amnesia from a concussion, she’s told her rescuer brought her into the hospital after she was attacked in an alleyway, a possible mugging. Her first sight is her handsome rescuer, Kayden Wilkens, protective and accommodating while he never leaves her bedside. Denial is written in Ella’s POV, so we feel every intense emotion, gut wrenching apprehension while she’s processing, trying to get a bearing on her identity. The reader is right there, along with her growing confusion and frustration as parts of her memory unravel slowly in bits and pieces. Some parts, I felt like a carrot was on a pole, edging me to go further into the story, as Ella questions her behavior and vacillates with indecision. But we are left with some unanswered questions, like why Kayden never wants her out of his sight and protection. Kayden Wilkens is protective over Ella. From the start, we get a sense that he’s part of her past, but not quite sure how he fits in. The connection to her is elusive since he claims not knowing anything about her, so we are lead to believe. But Kayden and Ella have an undeniable attraction, and it’s electric and familiar. Kayden, known as the Hawk, is part of The Underground, who call themselves the Treasure Hunters. There is tragedy and secrets in Kayden’s past, and I can’t wait to find out more. Along with Ella and her unraveling memory, it’s quite a rollercoaster of emotions, possible betrayal, and mafia business. Ella knows Kayden won’t hurt her, but can she trust him, or anyone at this point? Denial is the first book in the Careless Whispers series, it’s compelling, a sit-at-the-edge of your seat mystery that I’m sure will promise a great reveal. Ms. Jones writes a story blending mystery, suspense, lots of angst and steaminess. I can’t wait to read more of Ella and Kayden in the next book, Demand. Great start to a suspenseful series. received an eARC, from NetGalley and the publisher, in exchange for an honest review. 'Denial' by Lisa Renee Jones is book one in the "Careless Whispers" series. This is the story of Ella Ferguson and Kayden. This series is said to be a spin off of "Inside Out" by Lisa Renee Jones...which I haven 't read yet. So I thought this was good as a standalone this series does continue the story through two more books for be prepared for a cliffhanger. Ella has awaken with Amnesia in a hospital...but someone is there to 'claim' her. But Ella feels everything is not right and even though you have a very handsome man by your bed side...things just don't seem correct. We take this journey with Ella to finding out what the truth might be. Please follow more reviews at the below sites: https://romancebookreviewforyou.wordp...

This story was very intriguing to me. It starts out with Ella waking up in a hospital in Italy with absolutely no memory, staring into blue eyes belonging to a man who says he found her in an alley. He, Kayden, lied to the hospital about who she is so that he can stay by her side. In walks a detective who clearly hates Kayden and is using her case to get to him. She has no idea who to trust but her instincts tell her to trust Kayden. As the story unfolds, Kayden believes the Italian mob boss is after her and he convinces her to stay with him for protection. By the end of the story Ella has only remember pieces to her life and has learned Kayden hasn't been completely honest with her. I'm amazed with how little we learn in this book yet the story still kept me engaged. The suspense of who can she trust while trying to gain back her memories definately earned this book 5 stars from me and I can't wait for the next book in the series! ARC received via NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.

The first thing Ella Ferguson sees when she awakes is most amazing set of blue eyes that belong to the most beautiful man she has ever laid eyes on. She is not quite sure who he is, but there is something familiar about him and she is left with the deepest desire to know everything there is to know about him. She struggles with her own identity and wants to know how she ended up in the hospital, so he proceeds to tell her that she is the victim of a mugging and that he came to her rescue. Everything from her past is a blur and she has no recollection of how she even got to Italy, let alone what her own name is, but her blue eyed hero ensures her that he will be there to help her sort everything out. She isn't so sure she should be trusting her life to a complete stranger, but with her life in danger, and with her identity still in limbo, she decides to rely on her instincts and put her life in his hands... After losing his adoptive father Kayden inherits his business and the wealth that came along with it. He loves his work, and the danger that surrounds it feeds his need for power and control. He has deep seated demons, that are constantly lingering in the back of his mind, and effect every decision he makes, especially his latest decision to come to the rescue of a beautiful woman who has lost her memory and life is in grave danger. While he tries to resist her, there is a magnetic pull between them that cannot be denied, she tempts him in ways that he never thought possible, and she has him considering things he shut the door on a long time ago. Now he must keep her safe until she can regain her memory, and hope that he isn't part of those lost memories, or he may just lose the best thing that's ever happened to him... This was my first experience with Ms. Jones work, and all I can say is "Wow"!!! This story DEFINITELY took me by surprise, and had me regretting not picking up one of her books until now. This story had me on the edge of my seat the whole way through, it was so addictive, and the little cliffhanger at the end has me dying to get my hands on the next installment! Kayden and Ella immediately pulled me into their world and had me hanging onto every word, their chemistry creates an unwavering intensity throughout the entire story, and each encounter they share will leave you in dire need for a fan! This is by far one of the best introductions to a new author that I have had in a very long time, and definitely one of the most addictive reads that I have had the pleasure of reading!! Highly recommend this one, it is sure to satisfy all of your reading needs...and then some!! ARC requested through Gallery, Threshold Pocket Books in exchange for a honest and unbiased review.

"He does not treat me like that wilting flower. He is demanding. He is the wolf. And this is the part of him I want to know, the part he tames, but I want set free. And I am free with him." Exciting. Thrilling. Mysterious. Confusing. Sexy. Those are just a few words to describe Denial by Lisa Renee Jones. Now, I don't know about you guys, but I have been dying to get my hands on Ella's story for quiet some time. Ever since her character was introduced in the Inside Out Series, I have been dying to know more and more importantly, I've been wanting to know where Ella went and what happened to her. I would love to say that I got some answers to my questions, but I know better than that. Denial gives us just a little taste of what has been going on. Denial starts off with a bang and we find Ella waking up in a hospital with no recollection of who she is and where she is. She remembers NOTHING. All she knows is that this mysterious stranger found her and saved her life. From the moment Ella sees Kayden, the two of them share an instant connection. Kayden feels very protective and possessive of Ella. He claims that he wants to help her gain her memory back. But, who is Kayden and Can he be trusted?? Ella feels safe with him. And as much as she wants to be cautious, it appears that only Kayden is on her side. So, together, the two of them work to restore Ella's memory. But, only time will tell if Ella will remember things.... Denial is a fast-paced and intriguing story. You are pulled in from the very first page and will be left on the edge of your seat, wanting to know what will happen next. This story is sexy, mysterious, captivating and down right intriguing. You will be desperate to find answers, but will only be left with more questions. Who can you trust? What happened to Ella? Why doesn't she remember anything? What is Kayden hiding? I have so many questions and I can not wait to find out those answers! I will warn you that Denial does end with a cliffhanger and boy is it a good one! It is one that will definitely have you begging for more and desperate for those answers! The stage has been set. Denial has kicked this series off to a great start and I can't wait to see where it will go next!
