I just completed this book and really loved it. Most mysteries are so focused on the mystery itself that the author does not take the time to truly develop the characters. John Vanek has done a masterful job at that. The life of this troubled soldier who turned to healing the body and soul was beautifully traced in the words of this tale. I'm looking forward to book 2. Also, if you like his writings, checkout his published poetry, "Heart Murmurs".
