CHAPTER 1
What's Behind the Door: Akashic Wisdom Unraveled
Throughout this book, we will talk about the many ways your Akashic record room changes and morphs to match your needs. Here is one of Patty's favorite versions of her Akashic record room. She calls it the crystal palace.
As I walked into my record room I was immediately stunned and impressed by the high glass walls and ceiling. They were crystal clear and leaded. There were tall, lush plants filling the room, and a few exotic birds. (Not too many, because they can be messy.) The furniture was plush, sparse, and tasteful. My records were stored in crystal balls all neatly lined on shelves. Everything about this room was about bringing in and reflecting light. I felt like I was in a giant prism.
I was dressed fabulously as well. I wore a beautiful, flowy gown in light colors with some sparkles. Not too many, I'm not one to be overstated, but some well-placed bling is all I need. The point of this visit was to improve my self-image, and the guides went over the top to help me feel beautiful and full of grace. This experience was unique, as I rarely ask for this kind of attention.
Most of the time my record room is a basic stone structure, like the interior of an ancient temple. There are columns, a fireplace, a skylight, and bookshelves. I rarely sit, so there is usually no furniture. A tall table will appear if I am going to look at a book. There is always a pond or pool, since floating in the healing waters is my favorite thing to do in my records. My room is typically very plain because it's the best backdrop for all of the crazy visualizations I see there. I get more live action there than in any blockbuster movie.
And here is Jacki's first journey into her Akashic records.
I raise my eyes as I enter my library and am astounded by the grandeur. Deep wood shelves filled with well-worn books. Carefully among the books I find trinkets of curiosity, sculptures, tools, and magical items. My eyes light upon comfortable chairs to lose myself in, the perfect worktable filled with herbs, bottles, and candles, and doors that lead to adventures yet to be known. This is my Akashic record room, and it is mine to discover.
This is the place of perfection, even in its disarray. It's my perfection, a place where I can make a mess and then swish my hands and the mess becomes order. This is a place where all the information I require is available to me; this place feeds my creativity and my passion for life.
In one corner I see a formal sitting area, in another I see my Bedouin tent made of opulent tapestries and pillows to lounge upon. As I travel around the room, I find that I am avoiding the center, looking everywhere but there. This is because in the middle is what is waiting for me to heal.
Yes, I can play in the Akashic records, but then again, I go in there to heal. This is a place of strength and support for me to face the ugly side of my perfection—my personal demons, my fears, and my broken parts. What I discover about myself and my Akashic record room is that truly this is perfect and I am perfect. I will work on what I am ready to, I will get the information that is relevant today, and I can heal at the pace my spirit feels is the best for me. I realize that even though I am experiencing the perfection of the Divine, I still get to be one of the "bad girls" of the Akashic records.
What Are the Akashic Records, Anyway?
The Akashic dimension was created as an interface with the universe or higher knowledge (God) so we can count and recount all of our thoughts, intentions, dreams, actions, relationships, faux pas, successes, karmic credit cards, past lives, sneezes, farts, and coughs. (Don't fret, the records are sworn to secrecy.) Lord knows our brain isn't big enough to hold it all, and there are not enough sticky notes in the world for that magnitude of data, so we have at our disposal the ultimate information backup and retrieval system. It is truly the record of everything.
Akasha is a Sanskrit word meaning "ether, space, or sky." The root, kash, means "to radiate or shine." In Buddhism, the Akasha translates as "infinite space," a place that is without matter or any physical consistency. There is no time or space in the Akashic dimension; all timelines exist together simultaneously.
Now Let's Go into the Wayback Machine
The Akashic records concept was the brainchild and focus of Helena Petrovna Blavatsky (1831–91), the founder of the Theosophical Society. In her day, Blavatsky was the clearinghouse for Eastern spiritual thought for us Westerners. Blavatsky created a mother of a bridge between science and religion for us to play upon by uniting all the world religions. She plainly stated that "there is no religion higher than truth," and she believed the secrets of the universe are much grander than anything we have yet to conceive of. She believed that the records could be accessed and manipulated, and that we should do so. In essence, she believed that we use the Akasha and the Akashic records to create the life we are currently living.
You won't find directions on how to access the records in any of Blavatsky's writings, but you will get many lectures on how important it is to develop your paranormal skills and master the esoteric sciences to increase your chances of tuning in to the Akasha. And she makes a valid point. The more you strengthen your psychic abilities and have control over your will, the better you will be able to sustain a valuable visit to your records.
Hundreds of years before Blavatsky was even born, however, many cultures attempted to explain and apply the mysteries of a creative universe in their lives. Through the ages, and in nearly every religion, there have been elaborate stories about a place that sounds very much like the modern description of the Akasha and the Akashic records. The Torah, the Bible, the Koran, the Gnostic writings, the Aquarian Gospel, even Greek mythology all mention a Book of Life in some form or another.
Jewish scriptures say each year on Rosh Hashanah, the Book of Life (which is actually three books) is opened. Everyone will be judged and given an opportunity to atone for their misdeeds before God literally closes the books and inscribes their fate for the coming year.
The Bible also refers to a book or many books in which the activities and motivations of men are documented. In the Old Testament, Exodus 32:32 tells us, "Yet now, if you will forgive their sin—; and if not, blot me, I pray you, out of your book which you have written." In the New Testament, Revelation and Philippians refer to God's book as a record of our actions. Revelation 20:12 states: "And I saw the dead, small and great, stand before God; and the books were opened: and another book was opened, which is the book of life: and the dead were judged out of those things which were written in the books, according to their works." In Philippians 4:3 we find, "And I urge you also, true companion, help these women who labored with me in the gospel, with Clement also, and the rest of my fellow workers, whose names are in the Book of Life."
The legends of the Mesopotamian world included the tablets of destiny where the fate of all creation was discussed and determined annually. The Hittites, an ancient Middle Eastern group, also reference "tablets of destiny." They believed goddesses watched over the birth of their children and declared the destinies of newborns.
The Koran itself is considered Allah's book of remembrance. The prophet Noble Drew Ali wrote: "This age will comprehend but little of the works of Purity and Love; but not a word is lost, for in the Book of Allah's Remembrance a registry is made of every thought and word and deed."
The Aquarian Gospel really brings this idea home in 7:25–26: "This age will comprehend but little of the works of Purity and Love; but not a word is lost, for in the Book of God's Remembrance a registry is made of every thought and word and deed. And when the world is ready to receive, lo, God will send a messenger to open up the book and copy from its sacred pages all the messages of Purity and Love."
In ancient Greek mythology there is a legend that describes the Moirai, or the Fates (Clotho, Lachesis, and Atropos), and how they control people's destiny. Clotho spins the thread (the creation of the life), Lachesis measure out the length of thread (the length of life), and Atropos cuts the thread at the end of life.
What all of these religions and philosophies are pointing to is the idea that there is a divine repository for all knowledge. And through the continual spiritual evolution of the self, each and every one of us can have access to it. If only it were always so easy for the religions of the world to agree!
Twenty-First-Century Akasha
Not having studied Madame Blavatsky's spiritualist writings, nor being Vedic scholars, we embrace the popular twenty-first-century collective understanding of the term Akashic records as a place or dimension where we can create new realities, advance our skills, learn life lessons, and heal. A place of our own that we can quickly access through our own energy. We embrace it, and dammit, we feel great about it.
We came to the Akashic records as regular people aspiring to be fully invested in our destiny and the meaning of our lives. And guess what? That search placed us smack-dab in the middle of our Akashic records. At first we didn't go into this great place of knowledge with ceremony and ritual; we bumbled into it, created a ruckus, asked for guidance from the record keepers, healed the obvious, and looked for deeper meaning. We were the bad girls of the Akashic records. We didn't just break the rules; we ignored them and made our own. You gonna tell on us now, or follow along and get a backstage pass to your own life?
This Place Looks Familiar ...
You've been accessing your Akashic records all these years—and you probably didn't even know it. We use our records in many ways throughout our day, and unknowingly tap into them through other unseen dimensions of consciousness like:
* The dream state
* The unconscious mind
* The subconscious mind
* Meditation, and
* Divination.
The dream state holds many levels of sleep activity and brain activity, with REM sleep being the most talked about. Sleep experts say we need this dream time or REM sleep to download and process the events of our day and make room for tomorrow's events. It's very possible that we download the events of our day right into the Akashic records as we dream each night, and our dreams may even be informed by our records to help us understand our life. If you are stellar at remembering your dreams, you are ripe for being a wizard in the records.
Conversely, when we don't sleep deeply enough to dream, we get a little crazy and may even start to hallucinate. (Maybe you've experienced this if you've ever worked a string of double shifts, pulled an all-nighter to study for an exam, or had the unique feeling of persevering through a too-ambitious road trip.) Not dreaming is a sign that you aren't effectively recording your life into the Akasha, and the last thing you need is blank pages in your record books.
The unconscious is another dimension. It's said to contain thoughts and behaviors of a part of us we don't relate to in our waking life. Carl Jung calls this our storehouse of genetic, mental, and emotional material. This is where we'd find patterns and habits that tell us where we're from and what is influencing us. We also keep models of behavior asleep in our unconscious until we need them to help us get through a situation by playing a specific role. We tend to call them our "inner (fill in the blank)" when we pull them out for use. For example, your "inner warrior" can quickly come out when a loved one is insulted or threatened. Jung called these behaviors archetypes, i.e., the warrior, lover, mother, or guru. If you'd like to understand why you do the crazy things you do, tap into the records and ask the guides what you're hiding in your unconscious.
The subconscious mind is also considered a dimension. In this part of our psyche, all the memories of the fabulous stories we have participated in are categorized and stored for later use. Then, when something comes up, our conscious mind scans our subconscious for any relevant experiences it can draw upon. It uses these tidbits of insight to help us predict how to act or what to expect. All the rest of the information and reactions to events get thrown back into the subconscious to ferment. It's the same with the Akashic records. All the cool information is held in storage until you have a need or use for it.
The Akashic dimension can also be accessed through a transitional meditative state and our desire to know something. We can make the leap to the Akashic records with our will and our emotions, and opening that door to the Akashic field is a matter of tuning in and stepping through. We'll show you a couple meditations to prepare you to enter the Akashic realm in the course of this book.
We can also use divination tools like the tarot, palmistry, astrology, and oracles to prime our psychic pump and get in that Zen space that puts our ego to sleep so we can receive inspirations and impressions from the Akasha. Later, in chapter five, after we've covered the rules and regs, we have a beautiful meditation for you to enjoy. The High Priestess from the tarot will guide you into your records for a looky-loo.
Yes, accessing your Akashic records is as easy as that. Swear to the Akasha. They are your records, and you've been connecting to them throughout your days without even knowing it. Since you are already in touch with your Akashic records unconsciously, why not do this deliberately and get all the "bennies" of dipping into your own spiritual well?
The Perks of Visiting Your Records Often
There are many wonderful benefits to getting to know your way around the Akashic records. You can check out the probable outcomes of a decision you are strongly leaning toward; you can take a vacation and never leave the farm (just what a budget-conscious traveler needs); and you can get the inside scoop on any challenge you are facing, whether it's about money, love, or your health. In addition to these notable perks are the very cool and invaluable benefits of visiting your past so you can learn from your mistakes, tap into the genius of others, and design a life that reflects the real you and fulfills a destiny.
Aren't You Crafty!: Co-creating the Life You Want
The records are much more than recordings of our lives; they are also where we are invited to make things happen. The energy in the Akasha is waiting for you to place your impression upon it, put your ideas in motion, and actively co-create your life.
If we look at the Akashic records as the source of energy that all things are created from, then it follows that when you access it, you are actively taking part in co-creating with divinity. When you move into the Akashic realm, you are entering the oneness, the place of the Divine. Take a minute and digest that one.... We will go over it again slower to make sure you get the full power of this statement.
1. The Akashic records are the place where the Divine communicates with you.
2. The records are both historical and potential.
3. You have an all-access pass to explore and learn from your records.
4. When you are in there, you are co-creating your own life very deliberately with the Divine—so make it good!
The energy of the Akasha is very sensitive to your thoughts and intentions. It's a lot like throwing a pebble in the water: Your thoughts touch the energy of the Akasha and ripple outward, find an energy pattern that resonates, bounce off of that, and return to you with more of what you seek.
Speaking of the Past ...
To co-create with your Akashic records and align yourself with a desired outcome or a potential future, you have to understand how vast your records are. Within your personal Akasha are the records of your soul's entire existence. Let's say you've lived one hundred past lives. Well, you're gonna need a really big record room. (Just imagine, there are billions of people on the planet with hundreds of lives each—what must the breadth and width of the Akashic realm be?!)
