About the Author

Michael Opitz, a former elementary school teacher and reading specialist, is currently Professor of Reading Education at the University of Northern Colorado. His published books include Reaching Readers: Flexible and Innovative Strategies for Teaching Guided Reading, Good-bye Round Robin, Flexible Grouping in Reading, and Listen Hear! 25 Effective Listening Comprehension Strategies. Michael also works as a K–5 literacy consultant in schools across the country and abroad.
