About the Author

Mac Andrew Bowman, M.D. is a cardiologist in Augusta, Georgia. He was born and raised in South Georgia and lived in Albany, Georgia, as a child while his mother attended Albany State College. He and his wife Janice raised four children: Eboni, Janaka, Nicouri, and Marc and are loving grandparents to four grandchildren: Khai, Justus, Delany Nia, and Maddux.
Janaka Bowman Lewis, Ph.D. is a professor of African American Literature at the University of North Carolina at Charlotte. She and her husband Daryl are passionate educators and proud parents of Justus and Delany Nia. She is the author of two previous children's books: Brown All Over and Bold Nia Marie Passes the Test and creator of the Vanilla Bowman Foundation for Educational Impact.
