Dragonfly Illusion

A hidden technology.
A global conspiracy.
A truth buried for centuries.

Jack Sugarman never questioned the accident that took his parents until a long-forgotten letter forces him to confront the past. It clarifies a personal tragedy and exposes a ruthless criminal cartel, determined to unleash Dragonfly, a technology unlike anything the world has seen.

With a network of unlikely allies, and a relentless obsession with what he calls Dark History, Jack is racing against time. The secretive organisation he's chasing operates in the shadows, manipulating forces beyond imagination. And the deeper he digs, the more terrifying the truth becomes.

His task is dangerous and may be impossible. But if Jack doesn't dismantle their operation, the world will never know what's coming until it's too late. Will Dragonfly rise, casting a shadow over the world forever?

Peter Bond's debut novel is a blend of ancient mystery and advanced technology. Sometimes confronting, sometimes comical, Dragonfly Illusion is a thriller that will keep you questioning the nature of fiction.

About the Author

Born in Essex, England, in 1955, Peter Bond joined a family already shaped by hardship and resilience. His family's early years were marked by tragedies, including the devastating North Sea flood of 1953, a disaster that influenced his family to seek a new beginning on distant shores. After some delays, they emigrated to Australia in 1958, settling in tranquil Tasmania.

Throughout his adult life, Peter navigated the changing landscapes of city and suburban life, living at 21 addresses in and around Hobart. Now retired, he shares a peaceful existence with his wife, Dianne (Di), in a serene semi-rural setting, embracing the quietude he has long cherished.

Peter's literary journey began early. A capable student in English subjects, he ventured into writing and publishing in 1973. Inspired by the dissolution of the official Beatles Fan Club, he established the (Australian) Beatles Appreciation Society, publishing a bimonthly newsletter/magazine. This endeavour lasted until 1976, marking a later dedication to writing and publishing.

Born Peter Mutton, he changed his name to Peter Bond in 1996, having briefly revelled in the name Lord Peter St John Gordon-Bennett.

His love for stamp collecting, an interest that took root at age six, eventually intertwined with his writing. Over the years, Peter's expertise in philately saw his work appear in many stamp collecting magazines, including Australian Stamps Professional.

Serious publishing took on a new dimension in 2012 with the release of The Spice of Life, a paperback edition of his father's memoirs. This marked the inception of Scribbled Lines Publishing, his own imprint. After 46 years of service in the Australian Commonwealth and Tasmanian state public sectors, he retired in 2018, turning his attention fully to his literary pursuits. He now publishes under his full name, Peter James Bond.
