I am an extremely moody reader and the mother of 3 so I'm very particular about what I choose to spend my time reading. This book hit the mark for me. Feisty heroine who can take care of herself, check. Action, check. Adventure, check. Some romance, check. From the beginning I was pulled right into the story. The main character was believable and I enjoyed her personality invoice. I also enjoyed the other characters and thought they added a great dynamic to the story. Tamara does a great job at creating a unique story and a unique fantasy. I love the faythander! It was interesting and the characters were different than what I expected them to be. The Pixies were probably my favorite. Although, I did really like the wults as well. So, if you like adventure, mystery, dragons, elves, goblins, Pixies, a feisty heroine, and Thor like hero, then you will love this book. I did!

This was an excellent and captivating fantasy book! Olive Kennedy has lived half her life in the magical world of Faythander that is inhabited by dragons, elves, wults, pixies and goblins. Now she lives in Earth Kingdom trying to fit in until her godson gets ill and she is thrust back into Faythander. Dreamthief was a combination on fantasy, magic, action, romance and a bit of humor. We were introduced to a lot of Faythander's unique population and it's beautiful world. The characters were great. I really liked Kull's and Heidel's bravery, Fan'twar's loyalty to Olive, and of course Olive's love for her godson! With a well written plot and a lot of mystery, Dreamthief was an amazing read and I am looking forward to following Olive in her next adventure! I would recommend this book to fans of fantasy, action and magic.

Fantasy novels have always been my favorite genre, followed closely by romance, but I can't stand cliché fantasies. Dreamthief puts a unique twist on the idea of pixies, elves, goblins, dragons, and wults. Normally, I imagine pixies as something akin to Tinkerbell. Not 7 foot tall animalistic warriors with razor sharp teeth. The entire concept and history of Faythander and the wult race was unique and refreshing. The storyline itself was not predictable and kept me guessing at who could possibly be behind the evil plot. I relished the combination of adventure and romance within Dreamthief and look forward to reading more of the Fairy World series.

It was a pleasure reading, and a story that kept my attention from start to finish. The characters were believable, and the premise interesting. I enjoyed the journey riding along with the Dragon, the coming of age love story was the cherry on top.

Reviewed on 9-29-2015 ***I received a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.*** I loved this book. I cannot stress that enough. It took me a while to get to this one because I was in one of my reading funks where nothing was appealing to me. Then I read someone else's review and decided I had to get started on this one. This book was fantastic! The characters and just everything about Faythander were well described and made me want to be a character in the book so I could explore this alternate dimension. I have to say I liked Olive and Kull, which is odd because I almost always hate one of the two main protagonists. Speaking of hate, I didn't care for Olive's mom or Brent. They're not supportive of her life choices, and it seems like they team up behind Olive's back to try to get her to do things their way. Not cool, guys, not cool. The guilty parties were not people I expected to be guilty. Sure one of them was acting really shady at times, but I didn't really expect them to be guilty. Although they didn't mean to do what they did. This is a great start to what can be a long series (I'm hoping it's a long series...) and I definitely cannot wait to get my hands on the second installment. 5 Platypires!

From the first few pages I was hooked into the story. Ms. Grantham paints an amazing picture of Faythander, and draws you into the world. Each character is well developed and brings the story to life. The plot twists and turns, leaving you wanting to know what happens next throughout the whole novel and the action keeps you turning pages. There were several nights that I found myself not wanting to put it down, but knowing it was midnight and I'd have to wake up in a few hours forced my hand. The writing is wonderful and flows nicely without any odd sentences that leave you confused as to what the author is trying to say. This book has everything in it---fantasy, humor, and romance. Although, the romance is G-rated, which I very much prefer. With that said, however, people who want heat in the books they read, will not be disappointed as the other aspects of the novel far make up for the lack of heated passion. Since there is another book (and I believe a third coming) in the series, the first one ends on a semi-cliffhanger. This doesn't mean to say that if you just get this first one you are going to be left hanging or feeling like you've been duped into buying another book just to find out what happens. Believe me, you'll be hunting down Spellweaver (the second books in the series) within seconds of finishing. However, even though it's a series, this book ends with a ending that leaves you satisfied. This book is definitely a must read!

Dreamthief by Tamara Grantham is a wonderful story of Olive Kennedy, a half Earth-human, half Faythander Elf. Olive is a Psychiatrist on Earth, and her specialty is helping those from Earth who have inadvertently visited Faythander, and the memories are adversely affecting their lives. Then Olive's Godson is stricken by an unknown malady, and Olive visits her father's world, and discovers a great deal about herself she previously didn't know. People are calling her the Dreamthief, and others the Deathbringer. Olive must work to discover the truth, and save not just her Gordon, but other children as well. Dreamthief, an Olive Kennedy, MD, Fairy World book, is a wonderful read. Definite 5-star.

Reviewed by Kayti Nika Raet for Readers' Favorite In Dreamthief, the first book in the Fairy World MD urban fantasy series by Tamara Grantham, visiting Faythander is a nasty business. Forget the fairies and unicorns, most people who visit return to the human realm with lost memories and mental problems. Olive Kennedy knows. Half elf, half human, she works as a therapist to treat patients suffering from Faythander's side effects. Despite her empty bank account, she takes pride in her job as Houston's only Fairy World medical doctor. She's never failed to cure a client — until now. Traveling back to Faythander wasn't on Olive's to-do list. But when her godson suffers from a mysterious ailment and falls into a coma, she has no choice. The fate of both Earth and Fairy depends on her ability to stop an ancient being called the Dreamthief. To complicate matters, she may be losing her heart to someone who can't love her in return. Saving the world, she can handle. Falling in love — not so much. As if battling the forces of evil wasn't difficult enough... Dreamthief by Tamara Grantham is a fast paced tale of urban fantasy. A clean read filled with humor, romance and a plucky heroine, Dreamthief hits all the right notes in the genre and never missteps. The characters are engaging with layers that may surprise the reader as the book progresses. The action and adventure are well done and there isn't a slow moment in Dreamthief. The romance has just the right amount of sweet and sizzle, and there's a mystery throughout that's guaranteed to keep you guessing. Grantham is prepared to make her mark in the urban fantasy scene with this one.
