From director Emil Lotyanu, this 1978 Russian film was adapted from a story by Anton Chekov. Young Olenka is sought after by all of the men in her town, and though she is promised to Urbenin a local businessman, her heart belongs to Sergei. When it comes time for Olenka and Urbenin to finally be wed, she can hold her feelings secret no longer and decides to be with her true love. However, fate has other plans.
