Eadgar of the King's Guard

In the year 878, Eadgar was a member of King Alfred's guard. On a visit home, he learns of a raid on the Hampshire coast. Eadgar sets out with three locals to investigate. An entire town had been destroyed. Eadgar tells two of the locals to get word to King Alfred, and Eadgar goes with the remaining companion to investigate the Isle of Wight, the nearest place where enemies would be likely to be encamped if they hadn't left the area. He finds Denisce (Vikings) there, and sends his friend to notify the king of the situation. Eadgar remains to try and hold off the invaders, by himself if need be.

About the Author

Mark James Wooding began his working career as an unskilled laborer. In the opinion of those with whom he has most recently worked, the term 'unskilled' still applies. It's the 'laborer' part they question.

Mr. Wooding currently lives with his family in Henrico, Virginia, and will probably continue to do so until the authorities find him.
