About the Author

Edward Ellis Morris (1843–1902) was an English teacher and writer. He was headmaster of Melbourne Church of England Grammar School, and later a professor at the University of Adelaide and the University of Melbourne. His most important work was the excellent resource Austral English: A Dictionary of Australasian Words, Phrases, and Usages, published in 1898.
