About the Author

My name is Thrassos Vryonides, a father, husband, brother, son and friend. Born and raised on the mean streets of Scarborough, Ontario CANADA…ah who am I kidding? Middle class family, middle class happy childhood and blessed life. Born to immigrant parents from Cyprus, this proud Greek Cypriot Canadian was brought up with morals and values that I’ve carried on to adulthood and have passed on to my children.
This book is a passion piece written from the heart and mind. If I help one person with this book, my time spent is worth every minute.
I dedicate this book to my beautiful wife, who stood by me through ups and downs. She has always been my rock and I will forever love her. My incredible children Danya and Ashton. My little (he hates being referred like that) brother Boniko, his wife Jessica and their boys (Theo and Myles). They have been my life line and support for many a dark days. My parents are who I am today. My dad Savvas and mother Irene (Rena) have instilled in me the fabric of what I am today. Without their guidance, support and love; I don’t know where I’d be today.
When I was laid off from my first employer, after almost 18 years, I was crushed and broken. My father called me and asked if we could grab a coffee. I had no idea what my dad wanted or the purpose of this unique request. My dad isn’t exactly the “warm and cuddly” type. We went to a local coffee shop and sat down. He just wanted to make sure I was “OK”. He wanted to ensure his boy was financially and mentally able to handle the pain of job loss. That day, I discovered that love is not measurable. It’s weighed by action. That’s when I realized that my loss is something that many of us have felt. If I can support or guide someone from the darkness, I’ve done my job as a “real” human with compassion and love. Thanks dad for giving me the motivation to help others.
