Tricia Montalvo Timm is a first-generation Latina who rose through the ranks of Silicon Valley advising high-tech companies both big and small, culminating in the sale of the company Looker to Google for $2.6 billion. A mother and entrepreneur with her own legal consulting business, she has been the first lawyer at several different high-growth start-ups and was awarded the 2020 Women of Influence Award by Silicon Valley Business Journal.

Embrace the Power of You is an inspiring business and personal memoir that encourages readers to stop fitting in at work and start embracing themselves. Drawing on her own experiences with finding a way to be her authentic self in the workplace, corporate lawyer Timm offers readers an anecdotal guide to embracing one’s identity at work, in the world, and on any personal journey to success in life. Timm showcases, with welcome frankness, the instances in which she felt forced to hide her cultural identity to get ahead and later stepping proudly into that identity with a viral Linked In post. Timm's story is encouraging for anyone struggling to present themselves as they truly are in a world full of microaggressions and polarizing beliefs on what success should look like.

Timm writes her story with a personable tone, concise prose, and clear expertise. Timm touchingly recounts her first experience with having to change her self identity as a Latina girl at the age of ten: auditioning as a child actress, she found herself constantly rejected for parts due to her last name. The feeling of adapting, conforming, and "code-switching" into a more "American" role followed Timm well into her adulthood.
